I once worked in an electrical appliance shop, and we always advised our customers to leave it for 6 hours before plugging it in.

I hope this helps

GE profile fridge making loud humming noise

The door being open so long caused warm moist air to collect and freeze inside the unit.

Take everything out, unplug it and let it thaw out for an entire day. All the frost will thaw, and probably run water all over the place so put towels down.

When you plug it back it, it should work fine.

Control board has gone bad....

What happens is the defrost is controlled electronically from a circuit board, when this goes bad, the freezer quits defrosting, and freezes the fans that circulate air through the fridge side of things.

To check this, unplug the entire fridge, leave the freezer open, wait for it to defrost a bit, if this causes the fridge to start cooling again when you plug it back in, then its the defrost. You should also see ice crystals on the back of the freezer just under the icemaker.

Just bought a new whirlpool top freezer fridge. Waited 4 hours then plugged it in. 30 hours later food is still not cold enough and fridge continues to run. Will it get colder, am I not giving it enough...

If you transported the fridge on it's side you may have drained oil into your lines, causing excessive head pressure. If you haven't unplugged it yet, please do it now and allow 8 hours for the oil to drain back to the compressor. If you are lucky, and the fridge didn't run too long and burn up the compressor, you should be able to come up to temperature with no trouble.

Liebherr frost free fridge/freezer

Try these solutions in these order:
1. Switch off the fridge and leave the door open overnight. Switch it back on in the morning.
Explanation: The sensor inside the fridge gets frozen and cannot control the temperature properly.
2. Switch off the fridge. Unplug it. At the back of the fridge (behind the unit, not inside) there is a large grid. Clean it with a hoover thoroughly. Open the fridge. Dry the back of the fridge if wet (inside the fridge). If frosted wait for it to defrost and then dry it. Plug in the fridge. Switch the fridge back on. This one worked for me.
Explanation: The dust in the grid deprives the fridge from cooling down and the unit can't control the temperature in the fridge section.
3. Switch off the fridge. -Unplug it. Empty it. Turn it upside down. Plug it in. Switch it on for 24 hours. Switch it off. Unplug, return to normal and switch on.
Explanation: This has to do with the pressure of the gas inside the compressor. I have not tried it but this advice as given to me by a qualified electrician when I commented the (in)famous F2 problem in Liebherr fridge/freezers.
Hope it helps. Regards. Albert

It should be under warranty, retry he is probably right, run for 24hrs and it should work ok, if you ever defrost you should turn off for 24hrs and leave the door open. Regards Advisor
