Question about Logitech Harmony 880 LCD Remote Control

1 Answer

Rocker keys unresponsive

The "rocker keys" for the volume control and the channel changer require a lot of effort to get a response. The remote will be 3 years old on 12/09/08. Is there a way to clean these keys or does logitech repair units?

I have the same problem with a 890. How does one open the remote? After removing the 2 screws it is still tightly snapped together.

I have the same problem with my 880. When pressing DOWN it works fine but when pressing UP it feels like I have to bust the remote in half to get the channel or volume to change.

Exactly the same problem here. Volume Down is fine. Volume Up requires a *really* hard press of the button.

I had the same problem on my 676. I split the casing and cleaned the contacts and the bottom of the buttons with isopropyl alchohol about a month ago. Works fine now.

Changed batteries, now won't control power

It is possible you are using the wrong type of battery. A lot of electronics require you to use either Lithium-Ion or less powerful ones. I had this happen once by putting in batteries that were the right size, but were meant for more powerful devices. If you have a cheap set of the right size batteries laying around that are a different type, try those.

Buttons stopped working

If there is a tv button on the remote, try pressing that..

Chances are its damaged and you might need to order a new one from Hitachi or possibly use a universal.. With remotes there really isnt much you can do when they stop functioning.

Harmony 890 channels and volume wont work

Sometimes you need to go into the menu page for the device that doesn't work and you need to "learn" the keys to the new remote. "Learn" meaning pressing the buttons on your original remote with the Infrared part of the remote facing the Infrared part of the new remote. This will help the Harmony remote duplicate the signal to the device you want to operate.
