Acer aspire 5253 error message no botable device after laptop was dropped on carpet

No bootable device suggests that your Acer Aspire hard disk may have been damaged when the computer was dropped.
You should try opening the cover on the base of the laptop where the hard drive is fitted and check to make sure that the drive is seated firmly and has not come loose with the drop. See the Acer Aspire 5253 Quick Start Guide for the location of the drive cover.
If reseating the drive does not help, then you would need to find any recovery discs that you may have made or received with the laptop plus need to buy and install a replacement hard drive.

Try this :

What is WinToFlash

There may come a day that optical drives are as hard to find as 5.25 floppy drives are today.

WinToFlash starts a wizard that will help pull over the contents of a windows installation CD or DVD and prep the USB drive to become a bootable replacement for the optical drive. It can also do this with your LiveCD.

You don't have to worry about scratches on the disc or misplacing your original media discs once you transfer their contents to the flash drive. The optical drive is quickly becoming a thing of the past, especially in office environments, as media is shifted to the cloud.

Take note: you have to select usb flash disk in your boot priority, how? just enter your bios then search for boot priorities.

I forgot my password

Some body had posted this solution at one of the forum sites. Not sure if it will work for you..
Quote-
I resetted the bios password of my second hand Acer Aspire One 110 with the software killcmos on a bootable USB Stick, which resets CMOS Settings to factory defaults. Worked without a Problem for me.
This is how it works:
1. Get an USB Stick and format it to FAT or FAT32
2. Get the software Unetbootin to create the bootable Stick:
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
3. In Unetbootin, select Distribution: FreeDOS 1.0 / Type: USB Drive / Drive: Drive of your USB Stick
4. Get the software Killcmos which resetzts the bios: http://majorgeeks.com/download2969.html !!! ATTENTION - Virus Scanner will detect it as a Virus, but it is not. It has the capability to change the Bios and that’s the reason why virus scanners alert. So turn your virus scanner off or exclude this alert.
5. Drop killcmos on the USB-Stick
6. Boot from the stick and when arriving in Freedos select Point 5 (Cd only something), then find the stick with dos commands and run killcmos.com
Attention, this is for experienced users who know what they are doing. Anybody following this doas it on his own risk!!

I do not have any exprience with using this.

Drivers disc is cracked. can I download the

Please download http://www.sabrent.com/drivers/USB-AVCPT-New.zip to a location you can easily find later (DESKTOP is a good location so you can delete the folder after installation)

At this point you can update the drivers manually...
1. Right-Click on MY COMPUTER, Select PROPERTIES.
2. Select HARDWARE
3. Select DEVICE MANAGER
4. Scroll down to the USB Video adapter.
5. Right Click on the Device and select UPDATE DRIVER.
6. Do NOT allow Windows to automatically find the drivers.
7. BROWSE to the Folder you created at the beginning and direct it to the correct folder for your operating system. STK1150 should appear.

I lost the cd with the drivers for an Acer ZG5 AOA110 with Windows XP Home Edition, I downloaded them from the Acer's website and now I don't know how to install them because they are zipped and I want to...

This procedure involves you having access to another pc. If so, it should get you on the right direction. Make a folder and unzip the drivers into this folder. Borrow any win xp cd that you can obtain. Download a program from the internet called nlite. A google search will take you there. Install this program. With nlite you can create a bootable cd/dvd disc to replace your lost one. The program
will take the win xp setup files from your borrowed disc and integrate the drivers into the setup directory. You can even intregrate service packs into the setup. In the unattended settings you can insert the license key and all the user info.(ie: country, date, timezone, etc.) Nlite has a wizard so
even a novice pc user can follow thru with the creation. This disc will become your new one.
Finally check the following url to ensure you have the correct drivers downloaded.

Writing bottable disk

Here are the instructions, taken right out of Nero's manual for Burning ROM 8. page 42:

9.3 Creating and Burning a Bootable Disc
To create a bootable disc, proceed as follows:
1. Click on the New button in the main Nero Burning ROM screen.
The New Compilation window is opened.
2. If you want to create a bootable CD, select the entry CD from the combo box and the entry
CD-ROM (Boot) from the list box. If you want to create a bootable DVD, select the entry
DVD from the combo box and the entry DVD-ROM (Boot) from the list box.
The tabs for the bootable disc are displayed; the Boot tab is in front.
3. If the template data for the bootable disc should originate from a logical drive:
1. Select the Bootable logical drive option button in the Source of boot image data area.
2. Select the entry you want from the drop-down menu.
If the logical drive you want does not appear in the drop-down menu, the reason for this is
that the drive is bigger than the space available on the disc. Please note that for operating
systems as of Microsoft® Windows® 2000 you need to have administrator rights in order to
be able to access drives directly, which you will need to do if you are to create bootable
discs.
4. If the template data for the bootable disc should originate from an image file:
1. Select the Image file option button in the Source of boot image data area.
2. Click on the Browse button and select the desired image file.
3. Select the language that should appear while the system is booting from the Boot locale
drop-down menu.
4. Check the Enable expert features box and select the emulation type for the image file
from the Emulation type drop-down menu.
5. Select any other options required on the tabs (see New Compilation Window).
6. Click on the New button.
 The selection screen is displayed.
7. Select the files/folders that should be written to the ISO part of the bootable disc and drag
them into the compilation area.
The files/folders are displayed in the compilation area and the capacity bar indicates how
much storage space is required on the disc.
You have now created the bootable disc and can start the burn process (see Starting
the Burn Process).
