Question about Samsung HL-R4266W 42" HDTV-Ready Projection Television
Screen started to go Jumpy and fuzzy as if you could see the lines being ran accross the screen. Jumbled up like distorted digital signal. TV stopped turning on fully. LAMP led on power button was blinking - was not getting audible that tv was turning on. Then would shut off and standby/temp red LED would light.
Turned off TV for 12 hours and it came back on - gave audible and slowly all of the above happened again in about 2 minutes time. Unplugged.

This sounds to me like one of two possibilities. First, check your ballast. If you're going through bulbs faster than you think you ought to be, you may have a ballast that is overloading. Its the 3" x 8" circuit board that connects directly to the bulb. They are plentiful and often cheap. Thats what I'd try first. If that doesnt' do it, I would invest in a new power supply board. That the board that the tv power cable hooks directly in to. This should give you a start, Comment back if you still need further help. Good luck.

Check the capacitors on the power supply first. If any have domed tops or signs of leakage, replace them. I had two go bad on mine. Call electronics parts supply stores first as these are not your average capacitors.

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.
