Question about Samsung HL-R4266W 42" HDTV-Ready Projection Television

Open Question

42 Inch HLR4266wx/xaa DLP - Samsung - Screen jumpy and fuzzy

Screen started to go Jumpy and fuzzy as if you could see the lines being ran accross the screen. Jumbled up like distorted digital signal. TV stopped turning on fully. LAMP led on power button was blinking - was not getting audible that tv was turning on. Then would shut off and standby/temp red LED would light.

Turned off TV for 12 hours and it came back on - gave audible and slowly all of the above happened again in about 2 minutes time. Unplugged.

Help.

I have close to the same problem. Check your "Picture in picture" is the little picture clear? Mine is, as is my TV Guide option. I have a 80% hit ratio by quickly unplugging and then re-plugging in the TV when it is on and "fuzzy".

Sure would like to know why it's doing this??!!

Check the other source Inputs. Does the DVD input also act this way? Use the Menu key on your remote. Does your On-Screen Menu also appear "fuzzy"?

SOURCE: samsung DLP TV won't turn on

This sounds to me like one of two possibilities. First, check your ballast. If you're going through bulbs faster than you think you ought to be, you may have a ballast that is overloading. Its the 3" x 8" circuit board that connects directly to the bulb. They are plentiful and often cheap. Thats what I'd try first. If that doesnt' do it, I would invest in a new power supply board. That the board that the tv power cable hooks directly in to. This should give you a start, Comment back if you still need further help. Good luck.

SOURCE: WILL NOT POWER ON, STANDBY, LED, TIMER LIGHTS ARE BLINKING.

Check the capacitors on the power supply first. If any have domed tops or signs of leakage, replace them. I had two go bad on mine. Call electronics parts supply stores first as these are not your average capacitors.

SOURCE: Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

My remote only works within 2 feet of the sensor on the tv. This is true for 2 universal remotes and the original remote that came with the tv. I have a Samsung 42" DLP HLR4266WX

Chances are that the sensor has gone bad. If you know how to get to the circuit board that it is on, then changing the board would be easier than just changing the sensor.

Your problem is capacitors CP204 and CP205 by the 9 volt regulator on the main board. Cp204 is a 47 microfard @ 50 volt and the other is 100 microfard@ 16 volts

You need to do an aggressive reset on the TV. This solved problem completely for me. You must unplug the TV when it is on. Repeat this several times until the TV is jolted back into the factory default settings. The issue is actually with the programming I believe. The clue was that the display worked 100% perfect in HDMI mode, and the problem only existed in the cable setting, no matter if wires were attached or not.

Again, do an aggressive reset to the TV by unplugging it several times while it is on. It may not register the reset at first because after all, the actual problem is a programming issue and it's having trouble recognizing commands in the first place.

Good luck!!
