Sounds like a graphic card driver problem. update your graphic drivers via the manufactors website and download the relivant drivers related to your card. alternatively try down grade your drivers by getting an older version of your cards drivers. either that or boot in safe mode and adjust your screens resolution to a lower amount.

hope this helps

Unplug P.C. remove BIOS battery and and wait a few minutes, replace and connect, boot and see what happens.

More than likely the bios is not switching to your video card, asuming that what you have your moniotr connected too.

Resetting the bios may help.

If not, try removing the video card and connecting to the onboard video, if it has it.

Did it work before and suddenly just start doing this? or is this after you installed something?

Let us know.

Good luck

My i-one screen comes on when I start up, but immediately goes blank. Then when windows starts it comes on then immediately goes blank. The external monitor works.

this usually indicates the circuit in the LCD has gone bad, I hope that's not the case, but more than likely it is. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.

Blank monitor

Hi,
To resolve the problem,do the following step,
1. Power on the system
2. At dell logo screen before windows xp starts to load tap on the F8 key slowly 5 to 8 times
3. Select safe mode
4 Hit enter on the next screen and logon using the administrator or your name
5. Do the system restore, when you have logged on, this would return your system back to the date when it was working fine
6. To system restore
click start>all programs>accessories>system tools >system restore

Thanks

Try swapping with a good known working monitor. Then check your memory.

Monitor shows a image uo until sign on screen then goes blank

Does it go blank before you signon, or when you sign on? If before boot to SAFE MODE and check the video display settings.. you man have settings your monitor can't understand.
If that doesn't work and you get to input your signon and then it goes blank you most likly have a virus or malware.
Log into safe mode, and use SYSTEM RESTORE to a time before you stated having the problem.

MONITOR GOES BLANK

Did you recently change or install a program that would affect the resolution and card output? Try booting into safe mode by holding the "shift" key during boot. From there right-click on the desktop and hit 'properties'-> 'display properties' -> 'settings' , check your resolution and drop it to 800x600 and then reboot. If everything goes back in normally make sure you have the right windows drivers for your video card. You can also check the driver version and settings while you're in safe mode. Sometimes the windows update drivers can act screwy and I would recommend getting them directly from your card manufacturer.
