Hi..there,
Well, It's seems you got a busted backlight inverter. Need to replaced a new one... if you are still under warranty, send it back to Dell for repaired.

So. My Samsung 906bw monitor was working about a month ago fine. Then all of a sudden, the monitor refuses to turn on. The power light turns on and off and continues to do that but nothing happens....

I opened up 2 of my 906bw and found 3 caps in the power board bulging. They are C316, C112 and C113 they are all 25v 820uF
I'm going to replace and see what happens. Maybe try a higher V see if it helps longevity.

This is an old monitor, you should try it with another PC running XP to see if it does the same.
More likely for the monitor this old to have bad DC filter caps by now as you can see in my SAMSUNG and other monitor albums.

Dear Sirs, I bought my HU196 D monitor exactly 3 years ago and it did serve me fine until two weeks ago when suddenly the power started turninig off and on for no obvious reasons. The monitor just turns...

Most failure in LCD monitors are due to bad caps as you can see in my albums of failed monitor. What did the shop tell you what tehy find inside? If it is caps, that is very cheap to repair.

Samsung Syncmaster 710N PROBLEM !!!

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder jopints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I would take it back right away, when electronics break down in lees than 6 months it is not a good sign. Get the replacement or have it fixed under warranty.

This is usually a bad capacitor problem. They would need to be replaced, or get a new monitor. Some shops will work on them, but you have to weigh the cost vs buying a new monitor for almost the same price.

There are some websites on repairing your own, but you need to know a bit about soldering and such.

LG old but brand new blank screen green light making a tik, tik, tik sound.

Nothing you can really do yourself with that. I would call manufacture and get solutions from them. When it comes to monitors, unless your skilled in repairing them you will only do more damage to them. If you really feel like jumping into it and have nothing to lose you should be able to find a service manual on this monitor here http://www.eserviceinfo.com/most_popular/list_8400.html and rip it apart to find the piece to replace.
