Replace the motor, the run winding is shot.It is not hard to replace the motor. The blower has reverse threads(righty loosy). The motor has a quick connect(no wiring needed). Yank out the filter first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on. VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel out of your way.Get the idler loose and remove the drum. Clean it all up and replace the motor. I can do it in 20 minutes. It is simple and uncomplicated. Go for it.

My Roper dryer heats up but does not turn when I push the start button. What would cause the dryer to not spin?

one is the belt may be broken or have slipped off the pulley.the door switch could also be bad. try and hold the door open and depress the door switch at the same time someone is pushing/turning the start button and then try to rotate the drum be hand and see if it will turn. the motor could have alot of lint build up and cause the motor not to turn.

Press start button and dryshuts off when start button is released

There is a switch assembly on the motor that activates when the motor is running. Centrifugal switch. It keeps it running when you release the switch. That is where to start. Eric

Asko Dryer stops running when you release the start button.

Hi, this is a simple issue here. these switches will fail from time to time. the start switch is unable to hold the circuit, in return, opening it upon release of the button.

Simply replacing the switch will fix this issue. switch is 20 dollars tops.

Dryer starts when start button is pressed and held but will not stay running when button is released

there is a holding contact at the motor wiring, check the schematics and trace that holding contact. it should hold the motor running as soon as it starts.

That should be just a push to start switch. The start switch is inside the motor. When the motor turns fast enough it trips an internal switch to keep the motor running. It sounds like you have a motor on the way out.
