Question about Audiovox Prestige Remote Start
I have a prestige aps-57 in a 2001 Ford Escape. Had some engine work done, replaced the main computer in the car and after that the remote start won't work. The power comes on in the car 3 times but the starter never engages. The door locks still work. Checked the 2 inline fuses and the hood switch and they're O.K. The led on the small button for resetting is off. Any ideas what to check would be appreciated. I cannot find a number for Audiovox customer support. The dealer that installed this is no longer in buisiness.
Hello hope this can help you. First check the starter wire, it is tan/lt blue located at the ignition harness. usualy during installation of the remote start system this wire is cut leaving you with two ends. one wire is coming from the ignition switch the other is going to the starter. the brain of the alarm hooks into both of these wires. if the repair man cut the wires from the brain and spliced them together he has just put the system back to OEM status leaving the alarm no way to engage the starter. I believe that may be where the problem lies but if not then I would say check your immobilizer bypass module the repair man mave have diconected that.
