If the device is still detected by the computer but cannot access the file you can try formatting the drive and then after download Recuva to recover the files from it, but if its not detected anymore try to connect it on different computer so we can see if that will be detected....

Files on a flash drive canbe corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon andthen click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flashdrive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive to working order you need to format the flash drive,BUT you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -

How to rcover from my sandisk back to my library

1. Does the flash drive LED light up when you plug it into various computers? ( not just your own fortesting purposes).

2. Does it pop up in windows explorer at all? ( Should be labeled as Removable Disk by default)

Your flashdrive may have essentially died. Test this flashdrive on multiple computers to determine whether its your computer or the flash drive. If you are trying to recover information try out the app Recuva which can be found on google search. Your information may have been corrupted.

Sandisk U3 Cruzer Micro 4Gb Cant Format

With your computer on and the SD Flashdrive fitted correct side UP in the USB port, go to 'My Computer' on the desktop and select the flash drive. The computer will ask you what function you want to perform on the drive and you must select 'format.' You did not say what kind of operating system you are using or I could give you more information. Let me know what happens,

When i insert my pen drive it appears.but when i click open "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer".how can i solve this problem ?

Myself have a Cruzer Contour (4GB) also, I happen to meet this error when use it on one of my client notebook. It seems that a antivirus/anti-malwares software blocking the "Autorun" program been execute, in order to prevent wide spread viruses came from pen drive information sharing.
(Sorry.... cannot recall which antivirus software...)

Some how the Sandisk Cruzer is carrying a build in program called "U3 Luanchpad", which also happen to using "Autorun" approach. Very high chances you might caught in this situation.

Please perform a virus/malwares scan on the thumbdrive. if USB happen to be found nothing related to the "Autorun" after scan, and able to use on other PC/NB environment (which not the same anti-virus amd anti-malwares been used). It will be pretty sure the problem lies on the software I mentioned in your PC/NB.

If you removed 1/3 of your desktop to a Cruzer Micro 4 gb to clear up space on your computer, would you delete that 1/3 of information from your desktop/computer?

Only if I did not have any use for it anymore. Just in case I would save a copy of anything I might need later on to a cd, dvd, external hdd, flash drive, or online storage.

Yes, one good way to recover deleted folders and files from Sandisk Cruzer is to use a Sandisk data recovery software. See this step by step guide
