Sorry for another post... should I keep the car powered up while changing the battery. I think there is a device that you plug into the cigarette lighter.

  • 1

Place the Z4 in park and turn the engine off. Allow it to cool for a half hour.

  • 2

Open the trunk. Pull up the removable carpet and flooring. You will now have access to the battery, on the right side seated in a bracket.

    3

  • 4

Remove the positive cable from the battery using a socket. Place the cable to the side. Remove the negative cable in the same manner. Pull the wall out.

the battery wont stay charged? if youre putting in a fully charged battery and your car runs, but then the battery slowly dies, the problem will be your alternator. the alternator is what maintains a car batteries charge. try replacing the alternator. hope this helps.

Brand new battery keeps running down. I'll jump it off, and two days later, battery is dead. Today, the A/C went out. Are these problems connected? What's running my battery down? Is It a belt issue?

It's probably your alternator. When your alternator isn't working properly your battery provides all or most of the car's electrical power. Until you can replace the alternator you can disconnect one of your battery cables while the car is not in use and that will prevent the battery running down. One way to check if your alternator is the problem is to disconnect the negative battery cable while the car is running. If the car goes dead, it is very likely an alternator problem. It usually requires about an hour of labor to replace an alternator. Most alternators can be rebuilt at an alternator repair shop and that is cheaper than buying a new or re-manufactured one.

2002 camry battery changed, dies in idle

Check the manufacture's Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) rating.  Some manufacturers recommend a minimum CCA.  If your CCA is below the manufacturer's specs, it can cause your car to run erratically.  This also can cause problems with your computer and give you faulty DTC's. (Diagnostic Trouble Codes - Service Engine Soon Light)  This especially causes problems with General Motors cars.  I'm always hearing of people with these problems.  Let me know how it works.

    Battery/alternator?????

This problem sounds like the battery because your alternator will keep the car running but the battery wil not start the car.
