The audio out cable (green ended wire sometimes) goes into the audio out socket of your pc. (both are green some in cases with older computers then it will be the middle on of the 3 sockets) if you have more than 3 audio sockets then they will indefinetly be colour coded. if you have a sub and/or remote, plug the left speaker jack into the white socket and the right speaker jack into the red socket of either the remote or sometimes the sub. then just plug it into the wall and adjust the volume control via the start menu and the remote if you have one.

hope this helps

I cant get sound on my viewsonic va520

You need to add some information - what is the source for the video that you are viewing on the VA520? The VA520 has no speakers in it. If it is a desktop computer, look on the back of the computer for a green 3.5 mm stereo audio port. This is your speaker out connection. Plug in any set of computer speakers or headphones. (Computer speakers may require a USB connection or to be plugged into an AC outlet to power the speakers.) You can find cheap speakers for under $20; good speakers will be more expensive. With a laptop or some desktops, you'll find a headphone jack on the front of the computer. (This will be labeled with a small picture of a set of headphones.) The headphone jack is also a 3.5 mm stereo port.

I hope this helps.

(laptops usually have internal speakers; most desktops do not have any internal speaker anymore. If you have headphones with RCA audio plugs, you can use a RCA F/F to 3.5 mm M audio adapter to use them with the computer. A stereo system may not work with a computer.)

The monitor should have a wire that goes to the green colored input plug on the back of the PC.

I can't get my speakers to work.Unsure if speakers are hooked up correctly. Was given to me by my daughter, and she doesn't remember how to either. Thanks

You can do some simple checks to see if things work. take a small battery (any physical size will do) from a working flashlight or similar item then put the small plug from the speakers on one terminal and then use a wire to touch the other terminal to the second contact on the plug. you should get a clicking sound from the speakers. Once you know the speakers work you want to plug the plug into the SAME colored jack on the computer. Watch out since the light blue and the light green can easily get confused. If you still don't have sound check the small speaker symbol on the bottom tool bar on the computer to ensure the speakers aren't muted and the volume is up. If there is no small speaker on the bottom you can go to the Control Panel (accessed from the start button) and find the SOUND icon. double click it and see if you've got sound enabled. If you have a set of small ear plugs such as earbuds for an ipod, you can check the sound at the back of the computer before going to the control panel. If, in the first instance, you do not get any clicks from the speakers, be sure that the speakers are powered (either by fresh batteries or a small wall transformer). Good luck and good hearing <grin>. Fishlung

Speakers on Hanns G HW191D monitor don't seem to work properly. This is new and I cannot get any volume from the speakers (well just about can hear it). Should I be doing something to make them work...

monitor speakers are usually not the best and in most cases not amplified. Try using the same wire to another pair of known good speakers. If they work fine then you'll know for sure.

I have got 2CH speakers idont know where to plug in to the CPU

There are usually 3 audio connectors on a sound card. For Line in, headphone/line out and microphone. The connectors maybe connected to the motherboard or there is a separate sound card.
These connectors are 2.5mm audio sockets - connect the speakers to the headphone/line out (usually green).
If you are not sure which connector to plug the speakers in, just start a audio CD and plug the speaker plug into each socket connector until you get music from the speakers. You will not damage anything if you plug the speakers in the wrong audio socket.

Lost manual for hp compact.

The speakers wires are normally color coded if the computer isn't ancient, the Speaker PLUG is green, if you are using the speakers in the monitor, then plug the green one from monitor to green jack on back of PC, (Microphone plug and jack is pink/Red).
If you are using other speakers 3rd party, 4.1,5.1, the hookup is different usually, But I think you need green to green, there should only be one green plug on back of PC, It may be labled sound out. but yours is probably green.
PS you also need to kake sure the monitor speakers dont require their own Power Supply/ AC adapter, Most of them do, while some desktop and monitor speakers do not just connect the cord ffrom monitor to green jack, "sound out". If this helps, thanks for the feedback

Get Moniter Speakers Working

Hello First of all you need a sound card on your computer with a Spk. (Speaker) or Phones (headphones) Out Jack it might be a symbol of a small speaker or headphones. You have to be sure you are getting a actual sound output signal from this sound card too. If the sound card is not working your moniter speakers would not have a signal to drive it. You also need a 1/8" Stereo 2 male stereo plugs on both ends, one end plugs in back of moniter other plugs in back of computer like I mentiond above. Make sure your Mute button is not selected on your computers volume button usally at bottom right of screen. Make sure the volume buttons are up to aprox 3/4 up also. Then for last on the moniter look in the menu i think you might have to keep pressing the menu button but i kind of forget now but its a Spk setting and volume setting in this speaker setup within the moniter as well make sure this is turned on and set at a higher volume level as well. Thats about all I can say without taking the moniter apart and checking the jack and wires and speakers. I would suggest you take it to a electronics or a tv repair or computer repair person to go any further then this. Hope you take time to read all of this I tried to put every step in here to help anyone out with this problem. Thanks for reading. Ken T
