1. First check the power cable by removing it and then plugging it in again. You may find it is not pushed in far enough.
If that is good then follow these steps

  • The console might not be turned on. Turn on the console using the main power switch on the back of the console.
  • Make sure the AC power cord is securely connected.
  • Visually inspect the AC power cord for damage. Do not use if frayed, cut, or damaged in any way.
  • Confirm the wall power outlet is active (receiving power). Try a different power outlet.
  • If possible, test the power cord by connecting it to a different PLAYSTATION 3.
  • If possible, try another AC power cord on your PLAYSTATION 3.
  • If you experienced a power surge, shortage, or a lightning storm in your geographical area recently, this may have affected the PLAYSTATION 3 power supply and the PLAYSTATION 3 may need service.
  • Make sure the vents are not obstructed in anyway.
  • Make sure there is adequate ventilation for the PLAYSTATION 3. There should be at least four (4) inches of clearance between the air vents on the system and any walls, televisions, entertainment centers, etc. Otherwise the unit may not function properly due to what are actually environmental issues.
I hope this helped
cheers
John

When i turn on my ps3, the green light stays on and the tv screen doesn't even change. i changed the cords to make sure the audio/video wasn't just out. i tried to enter 'recovery mode' but it won't even...

If you have a "slim" ps3, it does not beep 3 times. Try this.
First, with the system off, plug in your old red, white, yellow cables into the tv. (make sure your tv is on the correct setting). Now, just turn on the ps3 the regular way. Did you hear the sounds it normally makes when booting up (the ps3 boot music?). If so, thats good. If you did not, check again that the tv is on the right channel, and if possible, try another set of red, white, yellow cables.

If you heard sound, but do not get a picture, turn the ps3 back off. After the red light comes on, hold your finger down on the power button for about 5 seconds. If you have a fat ps3, it will beep 3 times after a few seconds to get back to regular tv mode. If you have a slim ps3, it will beep once, then 1 more time a few seconds later. It should reset and turn back on. If your tv is on the right channel and the cables work, then you should now see a picture and you know your audio/video is working. You can now try your HDMI cable and it should prompt you to use the HDMI at this point.

Hope that helps.
Mike!

I need help setting up my ps3 to my phillips tv

Plug the colored wires in the colored sockets, then plug the power cord into a power outlet, these are often found on a wall. And don't forget you must also plug the power cord ON the ps3. Then open the tv, either by using the remote or also you can open it using the button on the tv. Then you open the ps3 and switch the input channel on your television until you see the ps3 display. After that pick up a wired controller, be sure it is wired if not it won't work. For the final step use the wire of the controller and wrap it around your neck. You will then proceed to pull as hard as you can for as long as you can, until you die.

you either have the wrong channel

if you have a tv make sure you have it set on tv if you have an hdtv set it on hdtv.

or the AV cable is not plugged into the right colors or you dont have the VIDEO cable plugged in

also ask a friend who has a ps3 to borrow there AV cable your AV cable might not work anymore.

I have power to my ps3 but no pictu on the tv.

Also, if it was previously plugged in to HD, it might need to be switched back to SD cable. To do this switch your ps3 off, then press and hold the power button when you turn it on. It will beep once when you turn it on, then beep again after a few seconds. Once it's beeped the second time the display settings will be reset and hopefully it will show up on the screen.

Ps3 has no power

Well I think your house might have killed the PS3. I would recommend talking to an electrician about what happened.

You can try using a different TV and see what happens. However...

Unfortunately the PS3 is pretty much dead now. Hopefully its still under some kind of warranty or can still be returned (tell them it won't turn on). To replace the parts needed would require precise installment and should only be done by professionals.

Sorry for the death of the PS3.

Don't forget to rate :)

Hd tv as no hdmi plug

There are PS3-components cables available out there (the Red/Green/Blue one) you can use to connect your PS3 to your TV and still get HDTV on your TV system. You should be able to get it where you bought your Playstation. Got one for 39.99$ CAN
