If everything started after the new USB cable, get another one.
Before you do: try resetting your printer.
If this does not work....get another cable.

1)right click the my computer icon
2)click properties and then click hardware n go to device manager.
3)uninstall all usb ports and then scan for hardware changes
4)ur pc will detect your printer and ask for printer drivers
5)re load drivers and your pc will communicate with your printer
6)for reloding install the cd follow the instructions on the screen and click next
7)restart when the printer is loded.connect the wires and cords properly.

When installing drivers/software it is generally a good practice to -

Hi oscarverdell
Some printer drivers have to be installed before the printer is connected, in your case, you have done what we all do, - connect the hardware and install the software.
Uninstall your printer:
Start àSettings àPrinter and Fax (just delete the printer).
Disconnect the printer from the computer and reinstall the driver.
The software will ask you that it already know your driver and if you want to keep it or reinstall the “new” one, àchose keep (there is no need to install it one more time).
Now you’ll most likely bee told to connect the printer and everything is “ding-dong”. :-)

Disconnect printer from computer
Cancel All Documents in the print queue
Delete all (if duplicates are present) Lexmark printer icon
Reboot the computer

Make sure that the printer is ON
then
try another USB port (no more than 30 secs computer should respond and inform you a new printer is added)
try another USB cable

It is important to follow the step outline here.
make sure all ink cartridge are install and ready to go.
unplug the printer from the computer and turm it off.
uninstall the printer software from the computer.
restart and re-install the printer software.
turn on the printer.
connect the printer to the computer.

Try to check ur USB cable prperly connected or not...if yes then install the printer driver...

I have a dell with windows vista and it will not except a printer.we tryed two printer put new usb cable to computer and printer it says not communicating with printer. printers work my daughter put them...


You may need to update windows
and the chipset software
if you have a thumb drive try it to see if it works on the computer

if not update windows and all drivers

Computer to Printer Communication problem


Uninstall the printer software, then uninstall the printer itself. then reinstall the software drivers first , then the software.
Remember most USB printers need the drivers and software installed BEFORE you connect them to the USB port on the computer.
You also might look in the device manager for any yellow ! or ? in the USB section. This would indicate a USB driver issue. Post again if you need more help...

Have you tried installing the software the printer came with ?

The message "no communication between printer and computer". some times indicates that the cable you're using is faulty or the port selected is not the printer port you've connected your printer to.cheers.

I cannot print from the computer. A box pops up saying computer cannot communicate with printer. I've folowed instructions i.e. disconnect the cables. restart computer etc. I have done that but whenever...


You've mention, "you folowed instructions i.e. disconnect the cables. restart computer etc. Did you try selecting the ports? Are you using a serial connector or a USB connector? There is a printer port on the PC, serial connector is needed , right click on printer icon and go to properties and check ports if LPT1 is selected. if not It should be checked. Try this. and make sure the printer is on for the PC to communicate with the printer. Try this. cheers.select the ports

I cannot print pages from my computer. The message says no communication. I can fax, receive faxes, copy and scan. I just can't print from the computer, everything is connected.


try checking ur usb cable... if that is ok then check ur printer prefrence to make sure one it is ur default printer and two it is set to send print info to that printer

The computer can not communicate to the printer after installing the software.


Did you install the software first, and then plug in the printer? Or did you connect the printer and then install the software? For most newer USB printers, you need to install the software before you plug the printer into the computer, then at a certain point, their software (not Windows) tells you when to connect the printer.
