I have a problem with my Umax 1100. I have the Silverfast software and it performed Ok but suddenly it just will not come on. I reckon it does not like the OSX 10.5.5 software.

Any other driver available which plugs into Photoshop?

Long ago I had to resort to a third party scanning software, called VueScan from Hamrick Software. Works just fine now.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How do I connect my Umax Powerlook III to my max 10.6.8 os x?

This scanner is Fast SCSI . It was made in 2001. You will need a card in your Mac for a SCSI interface. The cost of the card and scsi cable, if your Mac will accept one, will probably exceed the cost of a newer, high performance scanner. Time to move on? (Umax were not the greatest scanners even when they were made. Umax was a cheaper brand with mediocre software. So how will you get the image into the Mac once you have a connection? Power PC (OS 9) Mac software will not run on OS X.)

Magician 4.5 is available at UMAX Official Site.I recommend that you visit Umax site and download the latest available drivers/software and install them. Also, there is a registry fix available, which may solve the issue.

Hi Try using the software called Vuescan by Hamrick Software.. www.hamrick.com I think.
It will recognize the scanner and work with OS 10.4 and UP. Although I am not sure about 10.6 Snow Leopard.

All scans with Umax Powerlook III are totally black around the edges with strange color bars where the images should be. This is using Umax Silverfast 6.0 software on a Mac running OS 10.4.11

sounds like the scanner is dead. only way to be sure that its not a software issue is to try that scanner on another machine. if you get the same issue on seperate machines, its a good bet that scanner is toast. Fortunately, you can usually go to the Salvation Army or Good will, and get a used scanner for 15 bucks, all you need is downloaded drivers and appropriate cables.

Hello, yes you will just need a firewire 400 (6 pin) to 800 (9 pin) cable as the new iMac no longer supports the 6 pin connector.

Powerlook Umax 1100 Flatbed scanner & Mac 10.5.5 Driver's..?

Looks like they'll let you buy Silverfast SE for just ... $49. Wow. Expensive price for just a driver.

On the premise you may not need the Silverfast software per se, just the driver, you may be able to, after investigating the legality, try a demo version of a Silverfast product and see if you can keep the driver itself after you get uninstall Silverfast.
