Question about Acer Aspire 9300 Notebook
I have an acer aspire 9300-5317 and I need to replace the dvd/cd writer that has stopped working. On the bottom I see two screws that can be the retaining screws for the drive. One or both of them is the screw(s) that hold the drive in place. I don't know which it is. Can anyone help. I don't want to possible unscrew one of the screws holding the motherboard in place. There is a third screw farther up the back but I think it is too far away to be the retaining screw. Second will any slim dvd drive work as a replacement.
You will be better off buying a drive from the manu. As for the screws any screws you remove from the outside should not be holding the motherboard. If you question the screws take them both out but make sure not to jar the thing too bad until you have the new drive in place and screwed back down.
