I still receive the error message "Replace Drum", "Drum End Soon", "Drum Near End", or "Drum Stop" after I replace the drum unit with a new one.
The following error messages will continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit with a new one.
Please reset the drum counter only when you replace the drum unit. If you reset the drum counter during the life of the drum unit currently being used, the remaining drum life will not be displayed accurately.
Make sure that the machine is turned on.
Open the front cover.
Press Clear or Clear/Back on the control panel.?
NOTE: The layout of a control panel differs depending on the model, but the Clear or Clear/Back button is located on the right side of the LCD screen as shown in illustration.
Do one of the following.
If your Brother machine has a numeric keypad:
Press 1 to reset the drum counter.
If your Brother machine doesn't have a numeric keypad:
Press the Up Arrow Key to reset the drum counter.
When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.
Below are instructions that I have found from the internet. Hope that they will help.
Open the front cover of the printer.
Hold down the Go button for 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Then release the Go button
Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back into the printer.
Close the front cover of the printer
Your drum unit should now be reset

2.Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge into printer.
3.The error message "Change Drum Soon/Drum end soon" will continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit.
4.To clear this error message, you need to reset the drum counter as instructed below.
5.Make sure that the machine is turned on.
For MFC users: To confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1. For DCP users To confirm you are installing a new drum, press the Up Arrow key

Resetting the drum unit will not improve print quality. It only resets your drum and allows you to continue to print. You decide when to replace the drum unit not the manufacturer!
Hi The AP message indicates thet the dev is so low in toner that the machine has to go into a full cycle mode to get the toner levels up. The error code is telling you that one cycle is not enough. you will have to turn the copier off/on and cycle it at least one more time....more if neccessary
The "drum" referred to is the imaging drum which is replaced separately from the toner cartridge. The drum life is rated for a certain number of copies, and the printer is telling you it's time. Replacement drums are available at big-box office places and from many online sources. Just do a Google search for "kx-fl511 drum". The new drum just slides in much like the toner cartridge, so replacing it isn't difficult.
"Drum error" is because there is dust or any thing like ink on the drum. After I filled the toner with a other brand dry ink, I got this message. I carefully checked the drum, I found there was some ink on the drum. So took off the toner part, washed the drum kit with the tap water. wait it dry. There is a rubber roller inside, it will take time to dry. after the drum kit dry, I rolled the drum, there still something on the drum, I use a tissue paper cleared it. put the toner back, insert it back to the printer. It is fixed.
Is it a Generic brand? sometime the machine will reject it if the chip is not replaced. Try cleaning the contacts, or take out the toner turn on the machine without it , put it back in and see, it can be tricked SOMETIMES.
