When I try to have someone sign on the signature pad hooked up to my laptop, it makes a straight line at the bottom instead of forming a signature! What do I do?

You can either try to unplug the pad for a minute. or uninstall the pad and then reinstall it again. and if that doesnt work then someone watered or damaged your pad some how.so you would have to buy a new

Lenovo screen red

Your problem is either the LCD itself or the video cable could be bad.also it could be a sign that your video chip is getting ready to go bad. try hooking your Laptop to a external Monitor using the VGA port.if your picture is good then I say look into the lcd or cable.

My compaq 610 laptop screen is become white and some vertical line

That is a sign that either your screen is in need of replacement, the wires aren't making contact with the motherboard or the on-board display adaptor is going bad. Take it to a PC repair shop. Or sell it on e-bay and get another one.

My gateway M-Series overheats and shuts down. i cleaned the fan with an air blower. fan looks ok but it still has the same problem.

test the leads that attach from motherboard to your hard drive make sure connections are securely seated with no dust built up
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems

Flickering horizontal lines on the screen and spread purple color

Hi,

I work for a computer company and i am sorry for what has happened to your computer. Regarding the display that your screen shows I'm afraid but let me get straight forward. The LCD screen is broken from the inside. Probable causes:
  1. Computer must have been accidentally dropped.
  2. Force applied on top of the laptop which caused the back side of it pressed.
  3. Heat that escapes from the motherboard, goes through the keyboard straight to the LCD which causes liquid elements to expand and breaks LCD from the inside. That's why it is always advisable to let the laptop cool before closing the LCD screen.
I'm sorry about what happened.

On an Acer Aspire 1640z I get blue screen and lines. lines move with track pad movement. nothing readable. replaced lcd cable and inverter. thinking either lcd or motherboard

Hook it up to an external monitor. If the display is fine on the external then your gpu on the motherboard is fine and the LCD is bad. No external display means bad board. Both cost roughly the same but an LCD is much easier to replace than the board.

Yea, some have shiney screws some have black....the screws that are in the bottom where the battery sits, there may be 3 I think, they should be straight across.

This numpad script at uberullu.com will probably work with your system as well. It uses Autohotkey to remap the keyboard keys.

Write Protected DVDs?

First of all, you need to make sure you can write to a DVD-R versus DVD+R. Go to your device manager and click on the DVD drive and  it should tell you what type of cds and dvds you can write to. Second, you may not need to 'format' the disk. Try just copy and pasting new documents or whatever you want to burn on the disk itself. Then just burn it. If you have a software, make sure to read all directions and follow it exactly. Let me know how this goes!
