How can I get Itunes to work on Ubuntu Operating Syste,

Good Day

I just purchased an IPhone and want to download Itunes to my laptop. My laptop runs the Ubuntu operating system. I have been unable to download itunes successfully and receive an error message stating file not recognizable. Is there a itunes equivalent which will work on Ubuntu and connect with my Iphone?

The short answer is: realistically, you can't.

The longer answer is: while some folks report that they've gotten iTunes to run under Linux/Ubuntu w/ Wine, it ain't pretty, and it probably won't recognize your iPhone.

The much longer answer is: I finally broke down and got a refurbished PC w/ Windows Vista on it mainly so my 3 sons and I could manage our iPods (3 iPod Videos and a Nano). I still don't like iTunes, and rarely if ever buy any music with it (I download most of my music from amazon.com these days), but it remains the only sure way to manage your iPod and/or iPhone until Apple decides to open their specs.

Sorry to be a downer...you might just get it to work if you put a LOT of time and effort into Wine or running Windows in a virtual machine, but the easiest (and perhaps cheapest in the long run) way to go is to have a cheap Windows machine around.

Changing songs on 4 s in the music part

Are you asking how to change the music stored on your iPhone?

You need to use iTunes, running on a mac or PC, to copy songs to an iPhone.

Music purchased from the iTunes Store will also become available on all your iOS devices.

Can i transfer purchases from any iphone to my itune?

Yes, just plug in the iPhone into the computer via USB that you have the iTunes on and you sync it by clicking "sync" and a message will pop up asking if you want to transfer your purchases to your library and at that point you click "yes".

I downloaded a song, and it appears in my ITunes; however, when I connected my IPhone and updated it, the purchased song did not appear on my IPhone. Any idea why not?

You can click on the song, and drag it over to the left where your iPod icon is. When it is highlighted blue, let go, it should sync to the iPod.

iTunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. For best result, turn off compatibility mode of iTunes before you open it.
> 1. Make sure iTunes isn't running. 2. Click Start, type regedit, then press Enter. 3. Navigate to this Registry location:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers 4; Its better you clean/repair Windows registry with Reg In Out. 4. Look in the main pane for a key that refers to iTunes. If you find one, delete it, then exit the Registry. 5. Start iTunes. The offending message should be gone!

How do I get iTunes 9.2 to synch ringtones purchased from my iphone?

The trick is to click on the picture of your iPhone inside iTunes. Go to the Ringtones folder and tell it to sync the ringtones directory. Now anything placed in the Ringtones folder will be moved over.
Here are some great tones for the iPhone I recommend: http://www.exectones.com/business-ringtones-2/

Hello, I have a desktop PC an a laptop at home, I have itunes on my desktop and just installed it on my laptop yesterday. I want to get all my music onto my laptop itunes. Is there a way to import my music...

If you have an iPod, then use iTunes on your desktop to load up your iPod with your iTunes music.

Then, use a program like TouchCopy to copy your iPod content onto your laptop or straight to iTunes. TouchCopy lets you copy all your music, video, photos, contacts, notes, calendars, games and more from your iPod.

To copy your iPod music using TouchCopy, you will need to...
1. Download and install TouchCopy on your laptop. TouchCopy works with all iPod types and the iPhone. There are free PC and Mac downloads available from here
http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy

2. Ensure that iTunes is closed before connecting your iPod. Then start TouchCopy and connect your iPod. TouchCopy will have fixed your iTunes preferences so that iTunes will not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.

3. Use TouchCopy to copy all your iPod content to your laptop hard drive or straight into iTunes.

4. You can then use iTunes to re-sync your iPod, which will re-load your iPod with all your music and let you add new content to it too.

My Ipod nano contains all my music. Unable to transfer to laptop

Unfortunately iTunes doesn't let you transfer anything other than your iTunes store purchases from your iPod.

Totransfer all your iPod content, all your music, playlists, videos, podcasts and photos to your new iTunes library you will need todownload software like TouchCopy.

Here is how to use TouchCopy

  1. Download and Install TouchCopy. Downloads are free and are available for both PC and Mac.
  2. Start up TouchCopy by double-clicking the TouchCopy icon on your desktop
  3. Connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer. TouchCopymay start iTunes - don't worry, TouchCopy has fixed it so that iTuneswill not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.
  4. Now select which songs you want to copy into iTunes, if you want toselect all your music, select "Music" from the list on the left andclick on "Copy to iTunes" button in the TouchCopy control bar. In a similar way, you can also use TouchCopy to copy your playlists, videos, podcasts, photos, contacts, calendars and notes.
  5. Whenyou are satisfied that all your iPod content is safely in iTunes, useiTunes to re-sync your iPod which will enable you to add new content toit.
