What you want to do is run System Restore prior to the day you restarted your computer.  Depending on your Service Pack 1or 2, you'll find System Restore by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools.  If your Service Pack 3 then you'll find it by going to the Help and Support Center, and clicking on undo changes to your computer with System Restore.  Once it's restored, it should bring back your access to the wireless router/network.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Dell inspiron will not connect to any internet

Sounds like perhaps you have a winsock error.

Hope that helps you. Just FYI, a corrupted WINSOCK issue is usually the result of a virus or spyware corruption.

Dell Inspiron 1525 not connecting wirelessly to Sky broadband

If your wireless router is configured with SSID, encryption, MAC address filtering (if enabled) etc. then the Dell wireless card needs to be configured with these settings to allow it to communicate with the wireless router.
Check the settings on your PC's wireless settings, and configure the Dell the same way.

No wireless connection because of problems with my Base System Driver and SM Bus Controllers

Go to "Device Manager" and look if any yellow or red alerts are being displayed next to any devices. To access the "Device Manager" go to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "Computer Management" and select "Device Manager" located in the left side column. If they are alerts, you need to go to and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag", (serial number) of the 1501 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.

Thank You.
