Question about Maytag 24 in. MDB5600A Jetclean II Built-in Dishwasher
My Maytag Performa Dishwasher draws in water as normal, then stops. The wash cycle doesn't start. All it does is hum/beep after about 30 seconds/1 minute, and continuously repeats that. The lights start flashing after a few minutes of the continuous beeping. I can drain the water by hitting the off button without any problems. Does this mean that the heating coils aren't working?
Thanks for any help. Chris

After checking that there is pressure at faucet and after ensuring that the inlet hose is not kinked or clogged, next part to test is the inlet valve.
The inlet valve is the part directly connected to the inlet hose. The valve is tested reading Ohms at its terminals, and checking if it does open and close when it is energized. If when you read impedance at valve contacts using a multimeter the valve returns infinity (open), then valve solenoid is shot, and the valve must be replaced. If the valve shows continuity, it may still be mechanically faulty. If the valve is not open when energized, then it is faulty.
Here the valve: Inlet Water Valve
If the valve is OK, then the next part to check is the float switch.
The float switch can be tested by jumping it. Other test can be done removing the switch from circuit and reading Ohms to check if the switch is opening and closing the circuit when the arm with the float is operated. This last test will not reveal problems caused by the floater (eg. float getting stuck).
Here the switch: Float Switch
Other part that must be tested is the door switch. This part is tested jumping its contacts and running a cycle.
Here part:Door Switch
If water level device (float switch) , inlet valve, and door switch are OK, then problem is usually the electronic control. The electronic control is replaced only after testing the parts above and checking wiring (use OhmMeter). All the tests must be performed by trained personal.
