That one is a little funny to get on right.

There is a lip on the lid towared the front. That lip has to hook under the tank first and then pull the lid over top the back and latch it on.

Good Luck

If thats not the problem let me know

How do I replace carbon brushes in vax6131

Bend back the three tabs and cut off the contact wire as close to the top tab as possible. You can then pull the brush (or what is left of it) out. The new brushes have a brass plate the same size as the brush opening. The connection wire that you cut away on the original brush is attached to this plate so you don't have to solder the connection. Push the new brush into the holder (you might have to file the carbon slightly to get it in). Then you have to compress the spring so that it all fits into the brush holder (this is difficult) once this is in keep the sping compressed with a small screw driver or other small tool, and bend the three tabs back over the brass plate to hold it in place. Give that a try and let me know how that works for ya.

Will not spray water on floor and will not clean

If your not getting your cleaner to function as it should, the first thing I would check is whether or not the power plug hasn't come loose from the outlet. Even the slightest bit of looseness will not make the electrical connection, and sometimes, even if you get the plug in correctly, it manages to work itself loose.
Secondly, I would check each connection that's actually on the cleaner; such as making sure every hose and tank has made it's connection and is seated right where it should be. You may hear a slight "snap" when you place the tank in the right place.
If your getting air into the lines because something isn't locked in right, this could easily cause the non-function problem.
Sometimes, I have had to re-seat my water holding tank several times before it will sit in there right. There can also be a hose or something inside the unit that is getting in the way of it fitting in there too. Look inside before you connect it to be sure nothing is getting in the way.
Also be sure you haven't filled the tank over the fill line. With these machines, you must follow every instruction carefully or they will give you problems.
I hope this helps you get your machine cleaning again for you.
It should...providing your getting power to the machine and you hear the motor running.
If not, you may have to call the manufacturer and ask them for help or to send you a new manual so you can figure it out that way.
Good Luck.

No suction on my Pro heat steamer

You may want to check to see if the removable nozzle is correctly placed into its place. This is the plastic part where the water is sucked up through by the carpet cleaner. The nozzle notches must fit into the groove on the cleaner correctly and the metal bar need to snap back on top of the removable nozzle, Also sometimes if you have hair trapped in the nozzle or the bristle, it will affect the suction power of getting up the dirty water. The dirty water tank need to snap in place by making sure the top of the gray snaps on each side is over the top groove of the dirty tank on each side and the the gray snaps are pushed down and pushed into the tank to until it is snapped in place.
Super Simple answer could be: The Dirty water tank could have bubbles in it causing it not to **** too.

Where does other end of hose go

You're quite right . . . the manual doesn't show where the other end of the hose goes, which frustrated me as well. I finally found another pic of the cleaner (I think it may have been the one on the box) which revealed the answer. If you're facing the rear of the machine, there is a plastic "hose clip" on the right side of the machine (it looks like the letter "c"), and the "loose end" of the hose is snapped into place in that holder - it doesn't actually connect into an aperture (that end of the hose is just to place the little furniture brush on, if you use it). Once in place, the hose will actually kind of overlap itself and be held firmly in place against the side of the machine. Hope that helps - I too am not a fan of manuals that leave obvious questions unanswered.

I used my new proheat 2x steam cleaner the first

You may have mislaid a piece when you took your Bissell apart to clean it after using it the first time.

I experimented with mine to try and reproduce your issue. On the bottom of the water tank, there are two pieces that can be removed from it. One of them looks like a black plug at one end, with a red rubber flange piece on the other end. If you push your finger inside the red rubber piece, you can feel a spring move up and down. This is the first piece you place on the bottom of the water tank. I suspect you have this piece, because if you didn't, water would gush out of the water tank as soon as you turned it over after filling it.

The other piece, which is the one I think you may have have mislaid, is a larger black, plastic ring with screw threads. This piece goes over the top of the first plug piece, screws onto the water tank, and holds the plug in place. The words "RECLOSE TIGHTLY" appear on mine. If this piece is missing, the water tank does not sit flat on the base of the Bissell, but kind of flops around, out-of-place, and the unit will not dispense water properly, though it may leak it.

If ithat piece is gone, it should be possible to reorder it. Start here:

If that's not the problem, if you have all the water tank pieces, I wonder if perhaps you unscrewed one black screw to remove the clear front plastic piece from the base of the unit-- the piece through which water is drawn up off the carpet-- to clean it, and didn't get it back into place properly. Make sure the two hooks at the bottom of this piece are inserted, one per side, into the clear plastic side pieces at the bottom. If the hooks are not secured properly, before trying to reinsert them, unscrew the black plastic screw so you don't break the tab. It's easy to miss getting these one of those hooks back in right, but it's important to do that before trying to screw the clear front plastic piece into place.

I think you have the same problem as me, If you lay the handle down and remove the tank you'll see a vacuum hose that runs from about the middle of the machine back towards and up into the handle. that hose probably has a hole in it. which is my problem also I can't get at the part of the hose that runs into the handle. I hope I could at least help you figure out what the problem was.

Can't get upper tank to snap back in place after removal.

I've found on some of them that you have to stand behind the machine. Put the bottom of the tank in first, then the top, and when you have the tank in place, pull up on the tank handle so that it locks into the machine. It all has to do with that tank handle not locking into the machine. If you play with it a bit I think you'll figure it out.

I can't seem to figure out how to use it =(

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover F5807 SteamVac Wet/Dry Vacuum. Well, there are 2 tanks, one is the water solution tank that is on top and the other is the water recovery tank of which is on the bottom. You use the trigger assm to release the water and the Hoover SteamVac works the best on the pull back. You can spry the water going forward but pull it back very slowly and let the brushes do the scrubbing for you and the dirty water pickup. There is a ball in the dirty water pup tank that will rise to the top and stop the water from coming in, @ that point you need to empty and rinse out the recovery tank and re-install. If you run out of solution the top tank cap or cover is the measuring cup to determine the amount of solution – usually it is one cap full and extremely hot water, there is a switch for the carpet and the upholstery, if the handle is in the released position then the brushes down below should be moving – just look in the brushes window and see if they are moving – if the handle is in the upright position then you can remove the attachment hose and then use the attachment and the revolving brushes will stop. I hope this will help you in working with the Hoover SteamVac. If not contact the Hoover Co and get an owner’s manual and give them the model # and serial #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
