Re: the front keys are locked and I don't have a remote....
In the customer menu you can unlock but you need the code to access. If you have the mits remote, hit QV and 9 simultaneously, or SQV and 9. This will get past the code to enter your own to fix. Turn the front panel lock off when you get in. Mits also has problems with switches (hardware) failing.

Lock/Unlock Parental Controls
Selecting this option lets you lock and unlock parental controls settings
using a password.
If you do not lock parental controls, none of the settings for V-Chip,
Channel Block, or Front Panel Block will take effect.
If you forget your password, press the MENU button, then select Parental
Control (the password entry screen appears). Simultaneously press and
hold CH+ and VOL+ on the front panel for 8 seconds. Parental Controls
unlock and the Parental Control menu appears. You can enter a new
password by locking the Parental Controls again.
Front Panel Block
Selecting this option lets you block (disable) or unblock (enable) the TV’s
front panel. The remote still tunes to any channel. When using this as a
Parental Control method, remove access to any remote that is capable of
operating the television while you have the front panel blocked.
Don’t forget to lock parental controls after you change the status. If you
don’t, the front panel block will not take effect .if this don't work get back to me i've got manual good luck
If you can change channels with remote then TV is OK because it has only one infra red receiver (remote receiver) to catch remote signals. So TV remote seems bad as it works on channel buttons only. Here is an easy test for remote, watch remote front through any digital camera or even cellular phone camera will work and press channel button on remote, you will see blinking LED at front of remote while watching it through camera. Now press other buttons of remote and I'm sure that LED wont blink.
"...it's possible that one of the front panel buttons is "stuck" or shorted, and this could cause the TV to ignore commands from the front panel or remote. But this should also cause the Power command to be ignored, too. You might try pulling off the front panel and disconnecting the front panel buttons and then see if the remote works."
On most television remotes, there are buttons to control other units. If these buttons are hit by accident, then the remote acts like you described.
Look at the top of the remote and find the button that says TV. Push it and it should start working normal.
Since I'm not at my shop, I don't know the exact button or names. If this doesn't work, respond to this post and I will reply when I have a schematic in front of me.
