Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

No picture on RCA.

We had a perfect picture and then all of a sudden the screen faded to black. Now we can hear but cannot see anything. There is no picture at all. I changed the channels and the picture reapeared for a moment only to fade to black again seconds later. What could this be?

I tried hitting it with no luck. We have just decided to move our TV from the bedroom into the main room since we never use that one anyway. At least now I can say that it may be a bad or loose crt when I try and sell it cheap in my next yard sale. Thanks for the quick response!

Sounds like possibly it could be connection related between any AV/Cable ports. Worst case would be the capacitors of the motherboard leaking. It's possible to fix anything. Just make sure you have the knowledge and the right equipment.

TV has sound but no picture RCA ColorTrak 2000 P52150CP

If I had a model # it would be helpful but my guess is the deflection circuit failed and a fuse opened in that circuit. Could be vertical or hoizontal circuit failure but either way you will need test equip. as well as solder/desolder equip. to repair it. If set is over 10-12 years old you may consider replacing set in this case Sorry I can't be more help.

Panasonic PT-47WX49E

The only thing I can think of that would make the picture fade to black is a loose solder joint on the filament supply. Each of the 3 picture tubes has a filament and if the 6.3 volt supply to those filaments is suddenly lost, the picture fades to black as the filaments cool down. An experienced tech can find and correct this for you quite easily.

RCA 32" TV - Model #32F531T - Faded to black

Isolate filament voltage from CRT,i.e. unplug Crt socket from pix tube.Measure filament voltage on CRT PCB.If present, suspect bad pix tube.If missing, solder any/all connects in filament circuit, meaning CRT board first then main PCB.
