Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Type in this key phrase " my service table today " in the search box at the top right of the display window, to get gathered some pages which has the details of practical experiences to the author of that site.
There is a few issues that can result in picture freezing 1: Overheating, keep it in a open area away from other devices 2: Your coax line from the cable company is going bad, if the rest of your TV's in your house are ok then its the one line itself going to that box, it could be an older 59 line or the fitting on the line needs to be changed.
You sure describe a bad receiver to me. Press MENU-6-1-3 and select details. Scroll down the page and you will see a section of VALUES 1-9 all should be zeroed except 7 which should not be over 4 and 8 at 1. If yours reads anything greater you will need it replaced.
Call in and ask for a Field Service Manager, Installation Manager or Quality Assurance Specialist to come to your home due to unresolved issues. To ensure you get a response e-mail or call the corporate office describing your situation. Do not call the toll free number for the corporate office as you will not get them.

Hi trishallan! I will be more than glad to assist you in this concern.. On the back of your Sansui STB-HD01 (Set top box) there is an input name - ANT In- Attached an external antenna to this terminal. If your LCD TV is an HDTV you can use the HD-YPbPr (you will see there Red, Green, Blue) on the back of the Sansui-STB-HD01, The cable that your going to use is the component cable - the color is Red, Green, Blue) - connect the 1st end to the back of the sansui-set top box and the other end is going to your LCD-TV. If your LCD TV is not and HDTV you cand use the other terminal which is on the right side of the HD-YPbPr, the SD-YPbPr, you can use the same cable - the Red, Green, Blue, .. then there is s display switch-Set this switch in conjunction with MODE switch according to your TV display capability.and there is a mode select- Set this switch in conjunction with DISPLAY switch according to your TV display capability, then u need to tune in the tv to compionent channel, use the LCDtv remote to cycle the input of your tv.
if you have any query please feel free to get in touch..

THERE ARE STEPS TO FOLLOW, TROUBLEING FAULTING, CONNECT A METER AVO AND SET IT ON AMPS IN SERIES WITH OUT PUT, OF A POWER SUPPLY, THIS SHOULD BE OPEN CIRCUIT, I MEAN CUT A POWER LINE INTO A LOAD. AFTER THAT START ISOLATING SEMI CONDUCTORS ONE BY ONE, SEMI CONDUCTORS ARE COMPONENTS LIKE, DIODES, IC AND TRANSISTORS. A FAULT WILL BE FOUND
if you are able to check it yourself i will give procedures.
i use avo meter check continuity of cable and fuse,
ii check bridge rectifier diodes (lekage)
iii all semi conductors at the supply stage. (lekages)
iv fusable resistors surrounding a main power transistor.
after that replace every thing normally and power.
