Internet Applications wont connect - Vista

I am running Windows 7 (the new vista) so I hope I can help. Go to the "Start" button and select "Control Panel". Click on "Network and Internet" and then "Network and Sharing Center". You shouls see something like: Computer =====Network ====== Internet. If there is an "X" on one of the connections, that may help you decide which option further down to try. You can keep me posted if this helps to this point.

My Compaq laptop Presario F700 series, Vista and AMD64AnthlON X2

Microsoft security updates have disabled wireless cards in the past, preventing systems that connect via wireless card to connect. One way around this is to revert to a point before the update or uninstall the particular update that is causing the problem through "Add Remove Programs" and usually within a few days Microsoft will have an update with a fix available.
Though this is the first I've heard of such a problem recently, it's not unheard of.

Can't get he dvd to work on my acer 5100 after xp installed

You may need to Flash the bios with the bios.
Going from Vista to XP on Acer 5100
The acer website site for the 5100 series located here http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5100.html

You can get all the XP drivers for your 5100 series there. Bios also. If the upgraded bios does not fix it then go to control panel, system, device manager, hardware and uninstall the dvd player all together. reboot. If this does not fix it go to the dvd players web site and download a FIRMWARE UPGRADE FOR IT make SURE IT IS THE RIGHT FIRMWARE FOR YOUR DVD PLAYER. Match all numbers and letter that id your drive. Good Luck. Please rate me.
