rubber bands did not work, too much downward pressure, the parts broken are on the door AND the camera body, but i will try a local repair shop but am not hopeful

  • goodwitchnow Dec 01, 2008

the dogs are broken on the body as well as compartment so replacing just the compartment cover would not help..what is the plastic repair workshop, couldn't find on line..is it a buisness?

  • goodwitchnow Dec 01, 2008

Even cheaper, try this link out:

http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=digital+camera+parts&_sacat=0&_fromfsb=&_trksid=m270.l1313&_odkw=750+parts&_osacat=0

I do not like to endorse ebay, as it is very good at endorsing itself, but if you have the time to search, this is an alternative place to search;-)

Ebay has used cameras that you could either use for parts or "replacment"

I fixed mine with a rubber band, but that is not a good solution.

go to a local repair shop and ask them to order the part for you.

If you go to a local repair shop, they will order the replacement from Olympusand repair the camera for approx. $50/$60, that is a good fix, and it will work much better than using bands or sealant tape.

Rubber band can work, I did the same on my Sanyo, I put 3 natural rubber bands wide nearle half inch each, sure they work.

However that is just a temporary adjustment, my rea solution to this problem is going to a camera shop and having it fixed for less than factory repair.

On the bottom of the camera you'll find a plastic tripod mount and the battery compartment. The door covering the battery compartment is fairly sturdy, and it has a locking mechanism. As you can see, the Coolpix 4600 and 5600 use two AA batteries.

You might call a local repair shop, just to see how much the repair is. If too much, try ebay for an "as-is" for parts, or maybe a good one, they're reasonably priced.
