Ok, this is what I did. I had to remove the four screws in the back of the tv. You can look in your manual for what screws or look up toshiba.com ... customer support, and enter your model number and from there you should be able to find the manual.

I have lost our pedestal stand in the move for our toshiba tv model 42HL167

There's one here

However you can find wall mounts for less money on newegg.

Another option is to look for and ad or even post a "Want to buy" ad on your local Craig's List for a broken 42" Toshiba TV. If you find one, you can use the mount and recylce the rest of the tv.

1. Carefully lay the front of the unit face down on a flat, cushioned surface such as a quilt or blanket. Leave the stand
protruding over the edge of the surface. NOTE: Extreme care should always be used when removing the pedestal
stand to avoid damage to the LCD panel.
2. Remove the jack pack cover on the back of the TV to expose the pedestal stand screws. The jack pack cover can
be removed without tools.
3. Remove the five screws shown in the diagram below. This will allow removal of the pedestal stand.
4. Once you have removed the five screws holding the pedestal stand in place, remove the stand from the TV by
sliding the stand away from the TV. The Toshiba customer service number is 1-800-631-3811. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Yes you should always buy the warranty on big ticket items like, your television. One repair can easily cost you more than the cost of the warranty. Hope this answers your question.
