Step1 Use a 10-inch Mill Bastard file, although you can get by with a shorter version. Put your ice climbing tools in a vise while sharpening to make the process easier. Step2 Stroke the file away from you. If you draw the file back toward you, it becomes dulled and less useful. Make your sharpening strokes smooth and even. Step3 Work on honing the flat surfaces into sharp points. Follow the existing points, and do not try to change their direction. Step4 Sharpen from the front of the tool to the back. This helps to maintain the points. Step5 Buy replacement points for your crampons. Filing eventually will wear down your ice climbing gear. Replacing the points will ensure you'll be able to dig into the ice and rock surfaces.

I have a husqvarna 350 chain saw and I want to buy a 13 in bar but they don't sell 350s no more and I was wondering if I can put a bar of a bigger engine

They do make what they call Log Wizard Guide Bars for this saw that are 12 inch. They aren't cheap but available. As for sharping, a good vise and a good file with a flat file and guide is all you need and the right angle, this takes practice. If you really need to use it take it and get it professionally sharpened.

Should I wear a helmet when rock climbing?

I am a firm believer that helmets are a indispensable part of your climbing rack. If you are in a toppeler situation or bouldering it probably isn't super necessary because you aren't going to take the kinds of falls on your head. However, if you're doing any sort of lead climbing, I do believe that helmets are really serious.

Climbing tools for beginners

For beginners, climbing shoes are a good investment as are chalk bags and a comfortable harness. Before anything, however, I'd highly recommend taking some climbing classes so that you know how to safely climb (i.e., tie in, belay, climb, etc.).
