Rack is the name given to a frame used to organize billiard balls at the beginning of a game. This is traditionally triangular in shape, but varies with the type of billiards played. There are two main types of racks; the more common triangular shape which is used for eight-ball and straight pool and the diamond shaped rack used for nine-ball, the rack is usually made of wood or plastic.

Can I put the balls anywhere in the rack I want or is there a specific order in which they need to be placed before starting a game of billiards?

Essentially you can place them anywhere inside the rack you want for a friendly match; however there is a specific way that the balls should be placed. I have found you an image that will show you the correct layout.

What are snowboard racks?

car without a snowboard rack looks positively naked. Okay, maybe not. But it does look seriously cool when it does have a rack. It looks the person driving the car has a destination. A purpose. Granted the purpose and the destination is that of a vacation spot so as to conduct some serious loafing off, but what the heck, let him have his fun. The snowboard rack is a dead giveaway. Other than looking cool, the snowboard rack serves a fairly important purpose. It protects both the car and the snowboards themselves. By securing the boards in place, a lot of potential mayhem gets circumvented. And mayhem is always best when thoroughly circumvented. If the snowboards are placed in the back seat of the car or in a trunk, the boards may end up moving and sliding all over the place unsecured. To say this could cause a great deal of damage to the internal organs of the car would be a mild comment. Granted, there are those out there saying, “My car is already a piece of junk. I don’t care if the boards scratch it. In fact, I really don’t care if someone steals the four wheeled disaster area.” For those of you who do want to protect your car and your boards, there are two major brands of snowboard rack currently on the market: Thule and Yakima. A two-bar snowboard rack from either of these companies will cost you over $200; although Yakima tends to be somewhat more expensive. Most racks from Thule can be used on any vehicle, provided that they do not have rain gutters. Thule racks are simply affixed to the roof in two places, using telescoping bars that allow you to adjust to the width of any vehicle

Snowbard rack safety

not specific for snowboard buy general rack use : 1. The Lighter the Better Most minivan roof racks are designed for carrying lightweight objects -- like skis, small ladders, well-secured aerodynamic cargo containers (like those offered by Thule) and other light loads. 2. Mind the Center of Gravity Putting heavy boxes, bulky luggage and other weighty objects on your roof will raise the center of gravity of your vehicle, which could increase the chances of a rollover during emergency maneuvering or in the event of an accident. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) also encourages drivers to follow auto manufacturer guidelines for roof rack usage. * Rollover Risk: Load Vehicles Properly [NHTSA] 3. Strap and Secure Improperly secured roof cargo can also fly off and strike vehicles travelling behind you, sometimes with tragic results. Remember: Only put lightweight objects on your roof rack, secure cargo properly with tie-downs and strong cord, and consider purchasing an aerodynamic cargo container if you plan on using your roof rack to frequently carry light loads.
