If its a basic disc drive for dvd , then it could be not to exspensive , but have you tried to grease the tracks and gears on yours plus manually clean the laser lens?

My sanyo dvd player is turning itself off while im watching a movie. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

It is shot. It sounds like it is overheating and shutting down. Fixable but the cost of DVD players these days it is too close in cost to fix it vs replacing it.

My accelevision flip down DVD player only comes on some of the time, any simple fixes before I take it to an electronics store and pay more than what it's worth to fix it.

try to determine if the problem lies in the way the top is opened (angle) , if so its my guess that its not worth fixing as the ckt board edge connectors have been damaged by overflexing , only way to fix that is replace the main board , this is 85 % cost of new unit

Will not power on it is pluged in

Unit exhibits NO power output at all - there are some possible reasons for this:

simple blown fuse - easy enough to replace if it isn't soldered to the board.

something more serious - such as short-circuit components including IC regulators, leaky electrolytic capacitors, open circuit resistors, shorted diodes etc.

You can check the fuse on the power board in your unit to see if it is OK. If it is, then it is time to submit the player to an authorised LG service centre for a second opinion and a quote on any repair/replacement parts-board costs involved, if you go this route, you can make a decision to get this fixed by them or not. Up to you - if you still have a warranty, it shouldn't cost you anything.

You never know, it could be something really simple within the PSU that you can't see, but a workshop technician can - and fix quickly at relatively minimal cost (hopefully).

Dvd "drawer" will not close.

The reason the drawer will not shut is because there is a problem on the mechanism that opens and closes the disc tray.

To fix this,

Get the appropriate screwdriver, unscrew the cover, you'll see a mechanism by the side of the opening, you'll see a rubber that controls the opening and closing of the door.

Try to replace the mechanism and it will be in good condition again.

take care

I just purchased an insignia pdvd9 at a thrift store, it turns on and everything but the tray doesn't even make an effort to read the dvd, it tells me when the tray is open, that its loading, but the dvd...

Bringing this to a BestBuy location will cost you an examination fee. Try re-installing the driver code and cleaning the lens first using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails, the drive is likely to be defective and should be replaced. Look for a replacement drive for your machine. The entire drive is a replaceable unit that should slide out of the machine. It will either have a screw to lock it in place or a slide lock on the bottom of the laptop.

Please keep us posted.

Jvc player deck wont open - can I use screw driver to force it out so I can retrieve disk that is inserted

You don't have to use force here u just open top cover detach the dvd compartment and replace the loading tray motor belt they do expand after a period of time thus making the cd tray to open.

This is where u can use your screw driver to remove your cd by opening the screws on the cd cover compartment .

Good luck

I hook my computer up to the d 1000 and it would not bring up anything. is there some kind of software i need

To my knowledge, the RadioShack Cinego D-1000 DLP Projector has a 480p engine giving 854 x 480 maximum resolution. That being so, perhaps you need to lower down your PC's Screen Resolution (and in some instances, likewise the Screen Refresh Rate) in your PC's display properties.

If your PC is a desktop, you may have to activate TV, Twin or Dual view depending how it is connected; RCA, S-Video, or 15 pin HD D-Sub.

If you are using it with a laptop, you may need to enable/activate the external video by pressing Fn + F? keys. The F? differ from brand/model and would normally have a small monitor icon stenciled atop the key.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Player will not stay on or eject holder on it's own.

$30 player is good for one year. Trying to fix him will cost you more.
