POOR COLOR QUALITY, NO MATTER HOW BRIGHT THE ROOM. SOMETIMES CAMCORDER WILL CATCH THE COLOR, THEN FADE BACK TO DIM LIGHT

I'm sorry that the video quality of the camcorder is poor. Sony camcorders will automatically adjust the shutter speed based on the lighting conditions. When video is being shot in low light situations, the camera will slow the shutter speed. This is normal operation and is not a service issue. To prevent this issue, record video in locations where more light is present.

You may use the White balance feature and check the operation. Refer the page 71 for more information. Refer the URL to download the Operating Guide:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRDVD105-205-305.pdf

You may also perform a power reset and check.

Performing a manual power reset
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Disconnect AC power adapter.
  3. Remove the battery pack.
  4. Remove the lithium button-cell battery.
  5. Move the POWER switch to the CAMERA position for 15 seconds.
  6. Move the POWER switch to the OFF position.
  7. Reinsert the lithium button-cell battery.
  8. Reconnect the AC power adapter or reinsert the battery pack.
  9. Turn on the camcorder.

Poor video quality on You Tube

When you watch the videos on the computer before you upload them to youtube are they of better resoloution? Are you uploading the videos from the computer or is this a camera that can upload them directly to youtube. It might be that youtube is reducing the resoloution of the videos you are uploading or your internet connection might be slow and that is causing the videos to be displayed in lower resoloution on your computer and someone with a faster internet speed might get a better picture.

Getting poor quality uploads to my pc from my Canon XH-A1

You need to upgrade you ingest system. Windows Media Player(and your system card) probably can't handle the load. Try "Scenalyzer" it's economical, versatile and stable( http://scenalyzer.com/).

Blubby video and choppy sound when taking picture in night mode

I also have an SDR-H40 HDD Video Camera and I have read in the instruction book that the footage is meant to be like this in low light situations. The reason for this is because the CCD charge time is slowed down to enhance light. By the way I also get poor quality footage in low light mode.

Low quality image from 2GB chip

Low resolution on memory card recording, regardless of the storage capacity of the card is just the way it is. If you consult the zr600 users manual (p. 82 of my edition - PUB.DIM-734/1205Ni15.1, c2006) you can find that video recording to the memory card is limited to resolutions of either 320 x 240 or 160 x 120 pixels. These resolutions are pretty poor - disappointingly so seeing that one of the old computer monitor standards used to be 640 x 480 and that 1024 x 768 is common today. I was disappointed too.
