The sound on my tv keeps going off and only way to rectify it is to turn it off and on again. The TV is less then 2 years old.

My parents' LTV 20-v25L also has audio problems. The tv needs to warm up at least 10-15 min. before the sound comes on. Then it is intermittent.

A repair person looked at it, but said it was very expensive (over $200) to fix. (?)

My tv is hooked up to a surround system. The sound keeps going out. I have to shut the receiver off and then turn it on again to get sound. I have to do this at least 5-6 times before the sound actually stays on. Any ideas?

I have run into similar problems on a few sets, and what it turned out to be in all honesty was a heatsink in the audio circuit that shifted and intermittantly touched the pcb. These were sharp brand as I recall. What I did was a major dissassembly which took half the day, and repair burnt spots beneath the bottom board, of three stacked circuit boards. Eventually you will lose sound completely and/or other functions if not corrected now. Good luck, Russmann.

TV loses picture

Sounds like your picture tube or bulb is going out. It depends on what kind of tv ( rp, lcd, plasma) it could also be a component issue.

No picture, no sound, but TV will power up

Average life on all brands and models is 3 to 5 years. Average repair on this size and type of set varies but is usually from 150 to 250 parts and labor. I see very few sets of this type (any brand) that are more than 6 years old.

The bulk of sets in our shop (over a hundred sets on average) that have failed are under 2 years of age.

The sound is starting to break up on my samsung lcd tv which is less than 2 years old?? LA32B550K1F.

The TV speaker's have a sponge surround suspension. After a few years the sponge starts to powder and fall off. Then you start to hear a rattling sound at some frequencies. You can confirm this by keeping your ears near the bottom of the LCD panel ( near the table stand base ). If you go into the sound menu and reduce the Bass settings it will give you some relief. The only solution is replacing the speaker for which you need professional help.
