Pixma MP510 will not run on vista - Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

Is mechanical problems,gears blocated,you must be remove the covers and look attent the transport drive mechanism components.

Solutions List:

• Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device
• Snap in ink tanks properly MP510
• The MP510 may require repair

Error 5100 is Carriage error.Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor
First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer.If this not help your printer need service.

there are drivers avalabe on the cannon web site..i just checked

really , a Linux system wouild be easier to auto-configure

you can refill the caterage which will be cheaper for you

I had the same problem. First you want to install what is called MP Navigator, you can google that and download it easily. Then after 4 hours of searching I found out you need the driver from this link: http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/256522/canon-pixma-mp510-scanner-driver-v12.13.0-mac-os-x-free-download.html

It's the scanner driver. Hope that helps!

I have lost the installation Cd to this printer too. How to install without the cd? I am using windows xp

Dear mamachubs, Firstly, make sure that you have the right printer driver for your operating system. Suppose, if your printer driver is for windows xp, then that driver might not be support by windows vista. Secondly, if your printer doesn't support plug and play, then please install it manually without connecting your printer. GGOD LUCK
