SOURCE: The "Paper Jam" light on my Sharp AL-1631 copier stays on

The paper detector on the fixing units have a history of going bad. The fixing unit is the hot roller above the drum inside the right door on the top. As the copy comes thru the rollers the paper hits a plastic lever that is spring loaded and located in the middle of the fixing unit. The sensor is all the way to the right side of the fixing assembly. If you move the lever in the middle you'll see a piece of plastic moving on the right, that piece comes out of the sensor and if can't reset the jam, that piece may not be resetting itself back inside the sensor. This is difficult to try to explain.
Good luck

When you clear the paper from the machine at the fusing unit, you can see 8 pawls, it looks like a hook but in a flat design. They should be touching the heat roller ( each has a spring to make it flexible ). If one not touching the heat roll it will caused the paper stuck to it so you will have the accordion paper jam.

SOURCE: Sharp AL 1631 is flashing 1 L. What does that

Hi:

This might refer to your scanner assy being locked. The scanner assy is the unit under the glass that scans your document prior to copying it. Look inside the cavity where you pick up your completed copies. Look at the upper left corner and see if there is a knob there. If there is, make sure it is in the completely unlocked position.

Sharp al-1631 misfeed light will not go out

This usually happens when a sensor that detected a paper jam has not reset itself after removing the paper. Make sure that when the jam was removed - all the paper came out and there is/was not a small piece missing that could have been left behind in the copier and is hiding somewhere. If you are sure the paper has all been removed then what could have happened is when the jam was being removed it could have caught on one of the paper sensors. This could pull the little flag that activates the sensor out of place - giving a false paper jam message. there are only a handfull of sensors in the paper path. remove the paper tray and make sure there is no paper stuck behind the tray or in the cavity where the tray goes. look and follow very closely the path the paper takes - look for any sensors/flags the paper would avtivate and make sure the flag moves freely and is not lopsided.
Make sure you also try unplugging and replugging the copier from the wall.
Hope this helps

Sharp al 1655 false paper jam message,

Check that the paper feed roller is clean as if the roller slips it causes a late paper pickup jam but nothing will be in there also maybe a small torn piece in the machine some where. and check the fuser make sure that is it not stuck in there if no to all these then is will need a control board.

Thanks J

Sharp AL-800 copier

If you check in the unit where the paper first leaves the paper tray, there is a small black lever called a sensor flag that should move freely in and out of a sensor led. Also one or two more inside the machine and where the paper exits the unit.

Paper Jam Message

Where is it saying the paper jam is located? Do you have a service code? It sounds as if either a paper pass switch is stuck in the down position (meaning it thinks there's a piece of paper there), or you may have a sheet of paper stuck in the fuser or behind a guide plate. Check on these and let me know!
