Try this especially if the printer had not been used for some time.
Switch it off, open the lid and manually (GENTLY!)slide the cartridge-tray to the left. Then you can see if a piece of paper or ink stucks it. Gently degunk the base pad with a little isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip and ease the mechanism back.

When the printer is not functioning properly you may need to reset it:
1) Press and hold <On/Off> for one second. Display will go blank. (If this does not happen, unplug the printer). 2) Wait approx. 10 seconds 3) Plug in the device - Press <On/Off> if necessary to power on the printer 4) Wait until the device has finished its startup routine
If the problem still persists, your MP600 may need servicing by a qualified technician.
Canon lists the solutions for the error 6A00 as... 1. Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device 2. Press Stop/Reset and ON/OFF to reset the printer 3. Removing paper jams 4. The MP830 may require repair 5. Unlock the scanner lock switch (MP830)
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Solution 1: Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.
Solution 2: Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.
Solution 3: Press the ink pads down in the purge unit. Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
