Unable to create database from within VWD 2005 Express

When trying to create a databsae for a website from within Visual Web Developer 2005 Express, I keep getting the following error message:
''An unexpected error occurred in the .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server''
I have SQL Server 2005 Express installed and I can create a database using SQL Server Management Studio Express, so I think the problem is with my installation of Visual Web Developer - perhaps there is something to be installed that I do not have. I am running .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 on Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3

  • simbayosys Dec 03, 2008

I uninstalled everything and installed .NET 3.5 SP1 then reinstalled SQLServer 2005 Express and Visual Web Developer. Took a while to do as I have been pretty busy with other stuff, but you may imagine how I felt when I was able to add a database to my website after days of fruitlessly trying to pin down the problem. Well done and thanks heaps for your spot-on help. Neat!

How to create crystal report in asp.net with vb script code

You can open the Crystal Report (should be installed with Visual Studio first) after you designed your database, then you have to connect the Crystal Report to the right database (the one which you store financial information in your case), then you can create your report easily by putting the desired variables and designs. Then you have to call for that report with a code within visual basic.

I am trying to connect to a SQL Server 2005 DB from Visual Studio

You must create an ODBC connection to your SQL database in the Windows Control Panel. Than you can call your ODBC connection via Visual Studio 2005. You can also create a DSN in Visual Studio 2005 and reference in that way. You will not be able to connect to an MDF but instead you have to connect to the SQL Server Service. Of course the username you use to connect must have access that will be created on the SQL server.

I need frontpage i want to create a website

Frontpage has been discontinued. It's a bummer because I like the program myself and still use the 2002 version of it.

There are two replacements for web development.

The first on is Visual Web Developer Express Edition and is available for free at Micorosoft.com. I'm using it for an intranet site at work. It works with SQL server and even Access databases very well. It takes 3 gig to load everything up.

The next program is Microsoft Web Expression. It's $299 for full $99 for upgrade. If your licensed for Front Page, you qualify for the upgrade price.

Some of the new software doesn't work with Front Page server extensions. One system does but the other doesn't. Microsoft.com can give you the details on that.

Problem of creating the master page in asp.net vb

Hi galondhe
I'm sorry It's not that clear what your problem is.
In Dreamweaver you save the page as a template which you can then apply to subsequent pages. Are you creating the asp.net page with all the data in it, then saving as a template?

Visual web developer uses master pages. You can always create the page in Dreamweaver and then take it into VWD to create your master.

I need a little more info to be able to help you.
