Re: Audiovox SMT5600

Get an ATT/Cingular network SIM card for $6. It is a pay-as-you-GO phone SIM, but you can have ATT xfer your number to it and also make order a standard monthly contract plan for it.

If it is really an older ATT nework BLUE phone, then the new ATT Cingular network does not support it. It must be network unlocked to use on ANY carrier.

You can google the phone model and UNLOCK to get free unlock software you can use yourself on an XP PC . Software won;t run on VISTA.

My audiovox smt 5600 can't show start any more if any one can help me restart it with a code pls mail me at

I assume you mean the phone is asking for a network code or password before the Start Menu is available, ie, phone can be used.

If this is so and it is asking for a network code, then you need a SIM card that matches the carrier the phone was designed for. If it is ATT/Cingular, you can buy a SIM card from the new ATT/Cingular network for $6. It is a pay-as-you-GO phone SIM, but once you have it, you can call ATT to as for a number xfer as well as a standard monthly contract using this SIM.

If it is from the old Blue ATT network, then it cannot be used on ANY carrier unless it is unlocked for use on ALL carriers. This would be noted witht the docs that came with the camera. If nothing says ATT/Cingular, and especially if someithing says ATT without Cingular, then it is probably an old Blue ATT phone. You can buy a BLUE SIM off ebay which will get you to the point of being able to use the phones functions, but it will not work to make calls until you unlock it and replace the BLUE SIM with another current carriers SIM. Sprint will not work either because it is not a GSM ATT type network. Cingular and T-Mobile yes.

Google phones model number and UNLOCK and you will find a way to do it yourself at no charge if you have an XP or earlier PC with a USB port. Vista OS cannot be used to do it with the downloaded unlock software. It is also very hard to find anyone that can do it selling Unlock Codes based on phones IEMI code.

If it is not a network lock message, then it may be the last users personal lock password. In this case, you can hard reset the phone by holding down both right and left softkeys while powering on the phone.

How long have you owned your cell phone for? Also, did it act strange before it died on you? Let me know so we can get to the bottom of this. Thanks & good luck!

I had a similar problem with my SMT5600. I've found that when this happens, if I just hold the hangup key until the keypad locks, I can then unlock the phone and it will function normally. Try this to see if it helps.

Take care,

If phone was on ATT/Cingular originally, then you can buy UnLock code off ebay or net. If it is an older old BLUE ATT network, then the phone must be unlocked my using downloadable software you can use youself with an XP or earlier PC with an USB port. I don't know of any one selling unlock codes, based on phones IEMI code, that would work. Or at least get a guarantee if someone offers you this. If it is an ATT/Cingula or T-Mobile phone, then it can be unlocked using a code sent you base on IEMI number.

Google phones model and UNLOCK to find free downloadable software. This will also work on any HTC Typhoon phone, which the Audiovox SMT5600 is just one of many carriers that sold it.

SMT 5600 does not load OS, screen goes white and then blank.

Screen sound bad, or intermittent connection inside. You can find disassembly instructions on the net. Search with phone model and disassemble. Remove and reattach all cables in case one is lose or contact dirty.

Audiovox smt5600 blinks amber light upon plugging in charger and wont charge and the (!)icon appears on the screen whichi n the manual means that the battery is either at too high or too low of operating...

Start with another battery. Borrow a friends or they are available on Ebay rather cheap. Or, go to your Cell Carrier and ask them to help you try another battery.

Have you tried charging it through the USB port of you computer? The phone is designed to charge from a USB port also, but computer must have ActiveSyn phone driver install and be recoginzed by the computer in order to charge using USB port.

you can use any USB cable, there is nothing specific about any particular brand... now the computer has to recognize the phone. You need the software/driver.
