I cannot connect my Wii to the internet. Is there a part that I need to connect, or is there something else that I need to do in order to get the wireless connection working?

Here is a step by step instruction on how to connect your Nintendo Wii to the internet. Please note that connecting the Wii to the internet does require a wireless connection, or wireless router for a signal.

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/getOnline/index.jsp

copy and past this into your internet browser.. if you should receive an error for any reason, here directions and a link to solve it.

Error Code 51030, 51031, 51032
It appears that your Wii console's Internet connection may be affected by wireless interference. Try the following:
    • Change your wireless router's channel to 1 or 11
Changing the wireless channel on your router may help. Most wireless routers have a channel range of 1 through 11. The best channels to try are usually 1 and 11, as they do not overlap with other channels. Typically, the channel settings for your router will be found in the router's main "Wireless" tab.
    • Where is your wireless router located?
Move your router away from walls and off the floor and try to place it in a central location in your home. Also, keep it away from metal objects such as metal filing cabinets which can cause interference.
    • Look for other devices
Noise from cordless devices (cordless phones), or wireless electronics (wireless keyboards, headphones, cell phones), especially those using the 2.4GHz frequency, can interfere with your wireless signal. Also, older microwave models can cause wireless interference. Avoid electronics that use the 2.4GHz frequency, instead look for devices that use the 5.8GHz or 900MHz frequencies.

If you do not have a router that you can plug directly into the back of the Xbox 360 then yes you will need to purchase a wireless router to sync up with your wireless router that you already have downstairs. You didn't specify if your broadband router had wireless capabilities? Does it? If not then you will need to buy a wireless router to be able to hook up your Xbox 360.

Microsoft has their own personal wireless router that fits on the back of the Xbox 360 nicely. I would recommend you purchase it due to ease of installation and compatability.

Here is a link to an example of what it looks like: http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-wireless-n-networking-adapter/76045?ref=recpdp&cross=802124

And a cheaper older model: http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-wireless-network-adapter/40678

And here is a link to Xbox step by step wirless hookup: http://support.xbox.com/en-us/pages/xbox-live/get-started/connecting/wireless.aspx

If you are having specific issues then ask away and I can see what I can do to help you out. Try to be specific on what your current setup is and what problems you are having. thanks.

My x box 360 keeps freezing ans saying you are disconnected from xbox live, what do i do ?

If your screen freezes when playing on Xbox LIVE, the problem may be related to your Internet connection. A weak wireless signal can cause poor Xbox LIVE performance. If you are using wireless connection:
1. Go to My Xbox and select System Setttings. 2. Select Network Settings. 3. Select Wired Connection or the name of your wireless network. 4. Select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.
If your wireless signal is only one or two bars, try improving your signal strength by following the suggestions below.
  • Move your router or gateway off the floor and away from walls and metal objects such as metal file cabinets).
  • Minimize obstructions along a straight-line path between your Xbox and your wireless router or gateway.
  • Shorten the distance between your console and your wireless router or gateway. Ideally, your network hardware should be near the center of your home.
  • Change the position of the antenna on your Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter (external adapter only).
  • Turn off wireless devices. If your router uses the 2.4 GHz band, try turning off wireless devices, such as 2.4 GHz cordless telephones and Bluetooth devices.
  • Try changing your wireless channel. Wireless routers and gateways can broadcast on different channels and one channel might be clearer than another. See your hardware documentation for help changing wireless channels.
  • Add a wireless repeater to extend your wireless network range. You can boost your signal strength by placing a wireless repeater halfway between your router or gateway and your console.
  • Add an Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter.
  • Switch wireless signal bands. If you have a dual-band router and an external wireless adapter, try switching the router to a wireless protocol that transmits on the 5 GHz band (wireless protocol A or N). Please see your hardware documentation for help with changing the wireless protocol.
  • Switch to a cable.

I can not connect to xbox live

Once you have all the wireless settings of the router, you are ready to connect the play station or the x-box to the wireless network.

X-BOX

On the x-box you will need to connect to the wireless network now.
Open the main Interface of the X-Box.

1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open System Settings.

2. Select Network Settings, Configure Network.

3. On the Basic Settings tab, select your wireless settings.

4. Select the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If your router isn't broadcasting your network's name, select Specify Unlisted Network and enter the name.

5. If your network has wireless security, enter your WEP or WPA key.

6. Try to connect to Xbox LIVE again.

Trouble connecting to the internet on X-box ,Play station or WII ?

You can try to reduce the MTU settings on the router. if the MTU on the router is set to 1500 then change the MTU to 1365. Also you will need to open the ports on the router.

For X-box port numbers are - 53, 80-88, 3074 .

I cant get an IP adress what i it it says faild

If the X-Box is trying to connect wirelessly to your network, you might need to access the router page and check the wireless settings and make sure that you have the correct encryption or network key, Check the MAC address filtering of the router and make sure that it is disabled or it is off, If you are using a D-link router it is under the Advance tab, Network filter, on the other routers mostly they are under security options, Now after checking those on your router follow the following steps

- Go to the X-Box Dashboard
- Go to Network settings
- If the X-Box is wireless you should have on option for wireless at the bottom of the page
- Select your wireless network and test the X-Box Live
- If it is a wired connections
- Test X-Box Live It should now all connect and confirm the IP, DNS, ICMP
- NAT may show as strict but it should be able to connect to X-Box Live
- If you want to Set the NAT to Open
- Check the IP address of the X-Box by going to Network settings then Edit settings
- Then go to the computer again
- Access the router page
- Go to port forwarding normally located under an advance tab
- Open the ports UDP 88, UDP 3074, and TCP 3074 (here's one example, http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-655/Xbox_Live_360.htm)
- The IP address field must be filled with the IP address you got from the X-Box

Hopefully this solve's your problem sir

Need help with best connection type for college student in dorm

The enhaced version just give more range of signal over the normal dynex, regarding the internet provider it depends because sometimes you'll need a password and user to connect to the wireless signal. The dynex is used to connect from a cable signal (RJ-45)internet and then it will transfer the connection to wireless so it can be use from any laptop with wireless connection. So for example you DSL internet connection is a cable (RJ-45) then you connect that cable to the dynex router, then the router will automatically transmit the signal to wireless so any nearby pc can connect to it. If the laptop doesn't have wireless, then you'll have to buy a card to be able to connect to wireless signal or you could by also a (RJ-45 straight-through cable Cat 5e) to connect from one of the ports from the DYNEX to the laptop. Hope it helps.

Xbox LIVE

I think the encryption may not be set up on your router or your router isn't broadcasting it's signal. Have you checked the connection of the wireless adapter, I mean that it's plugged in correctly? Not sure what type of encryption it uses but check the manual or box adapter came in and then log onto your router by accessing it via ip address of router in IE address bar. Then check to see if it has the relevant encryption set up. It will either be WEP or WPA or Open. Also make sure the router is set to "broadcast" it's signal.
