My LG LCD tv has suddenly started making a loud buzzing noise coming from the speaker at the bottom. The buzzing sound comes and goes and is like a flicking, fizzing buzzing noise. The noise is still there when the sound is turned off and muted. I have also noticed that when this happens and i switch it off and on it takes longer to come back on as though its going to pack up all together. Can anyone help me, i dont mind opening it up as i am very practical but just dont have the money for a new TV.. Thank you Pete
I tried Electcentric's solution of dialing the backlight up to 100 and that worked, unclear if there will be a downside to it, but the buzzing has definitely gone.
A common cause are failure of decopling capacitors in the audio section, and or the circuit board power distribution that feeds the audio board. Most of the capacitors are surface mount components. The standard fix is to start by changing the circuit boards that have the defective parts.
If the set is under warranty, call for warranty service. Out of warranty service is expensive for these TV sets.

Had this problem as well. Ran through a laundry list of possible solutions. Finally found that the key is to increase the backlight (Access via [Menu] [Picture] ) to 100% and the noise goes away. If this is bad for the life of the backlight, just pray the backlight burns out inside year 1 while the warranty is still valid!

Try removing all cables going to the TV except the power cord. Power on the TV and press mute. If you have any unwanted noise, then you have a defective TV and since it is new, you should get an exchange. If there is no noise with the A/V cables removed, then you might have hooked the source (cable box/DVD Player) into the wrong inputs of the TV.

Hello,
Take the TV to a local TV Repair shop.
Ask them to check the Inverter and the Power Supply.
Deffinately fixable.

Sounds like a overheating issue. Try facing a large fan blowing across the back of the unit and see if this changes anything. If it does, it might help to blow the back out with compressed air as dust might be helping it overheat.
