The fact that the top and bottom are still bowed indicates that replacing the STKs did not resolve the problem. Check the area for resistors that are open (smalll Ohmed resistors that measure high or infinity). Also check that there is a 24V supply going to the STKs. There are many causes of this problem outside of the STKs themselves. Please post the results after you check the resistors and voltage.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Your concern over repair of the convergence circuitry of a Panasonic TX-51P100H which is an E3D Chassis would involve:

  • replacement of the two (2) STK392-???;
  • here is an illustrated step by step how-to;
  • it would be to your advantage to buy the repair parts as a kit which include the match pair of STKs plus the resistor. Often the resistors near the STKs also get burned;
  • in some versions, there would be pico fuses underneath or on the board that would also require check/replacement.
  • parts could be sourced from http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/ who would also provided you with a instruction sheet on parts replacement. Pls look for Slinteriors who is also a member of this site.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Yes you can, are you trying to repair this yourself? It is the smartest idea to have the professional work on the television. I would get the service manual and from there you will be able to service the television yourself though I advise a professional.

You can purchase the service manual for your television at that link. This will give you all the information you are looking for.
Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thanks,
Lee

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

The convergence ICs have failed. You will need to install a convergence repair kit. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model Panasonic from www.tvrepairworld.com which contains both of the Convergence ICs , the associated resistors and the cD with detailed repair instructions.

Picture looks almost 3-D

When convergence out ICs stop working in rear projection TV, picture looks 3D affects.
Need to test/ check supplied volts on convergence out ICs on main board and if volts are OK, replace both ICs.
I'm not sure if you are going to repair TV by yourself or will ask local tv tech to fix it. Let me know please.
Thanks.

Not a fix for do-it-yourselfers, but check with Panasonic as there is a new fix. Requires tech to come and reprogram the eprom (I think).
Cheaper than a new optic board.
