It sounds like the thermal cut off fuse has been set off.It will need to be replaced should be 2 blue wires that connect to a little white thing that is it. You can take the back off the dryer and find it there. Also clean out all lint and make sure ventilation system is good. If you need further assistance let me know. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thanks,

    if you remove the wires and connect them together and wrap them with electrical tape and the dryer runs that is the problem. Don't run it like this though I would replace the fuse promptly. It should be located near the bottom near the exhaust when you open the back panel.
    Thanks again and enjoy,

HI,
If after resetting the controls using the end of cycle button, you are facing the same symptom, there could be loose cable connection, sometimes the cables at the back are eaten by rodents. Do check the cables by removing the back cover.
Second there could be a problem with the MCB,ie. the main circuit board . I would recommend to check cables first and if everthing seems fine there , call up the whirlpool service guy . They can be reached on the following webiste

Thanks

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, your concern could be caused by:

  • faulty/open thermistor. thermal fuse;
  • faulty doorlock switch;
  • faulty blower.
Here is an exploded parts diagram to help you identify the location of possible culprits.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

I own a 4 yr old whirlpool duet dryer and controls locked light came on and can not get it to go off

Look for the End of Cycle button at the extreme right hand side of the console then press and hold it for 3 seconds or until the Control Locked light turns off. The instruction is actually printed right below the button. The control lock is a safety feature of the dryer to prevent settings manipulation during the drying cycle.

Unplug the dryer for at least 15 minutes to reset the central control unit if the control cannot be unlocked using the End of Cycle button. Let us know if it's still cannot be unlocked even after the machine is unplugged.

Dryer wont start

Commonproblems...blown house fuse, broken belt ( on some models )...door switch...*thermal fuse open (venting needs attention )...broken or burnt wire....timer....motor, in order from mostcommon to least common. * If you find a blown thermal fuse, always clean, change, adjust the ventingsystem and vent hood first, then it is often a good idea to replace the operatingthermostat at the same time. This is a picture of some modernthermal fuses.
