How do I know what my firmware is?

I am trying to find out what my firmware is and what it is supposed to be. Also I have to make sure something is either 1 or 11. But I don't know what?? Sorry that's not a very good question but it's all I got.

One way to find your current firmware installation is to login to your router using http://192.168.0.1 , then enter your username and password. (If you're not sure of these, check the label which should be on the base of the router.)

Click 'Maintenance' from the main menu, then 'System Status'. The firmware version should be under 'Router Status'.

Sorry, not sure what the 1 or 11 means...but you might need to know the version number of your router, so again check the label on the base of the router: you should see WGT624v2 or something similar.

When you know the version number, visit the Netgear website and select the Support Page for your version number:

http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WGT624.asp

This will tell you the firmware available for your router.

If you need to upgrade firmware, it's best to proceed very carefully! Use a cabled connection, and take a backup of your settings, as advised in the manual. :)

PS: ....of course...'1 or 11' might refer to your router channel. If someone has suggested you change channels (if your wireless signal is dropping out, for example) the recommended channels to try are 1, 6, or 11.

You can change these channels by logging into your router, as described above.

If you are doing a firmware upgrade:
1. Navigate to the default home page of your router.
2. Look for a setting such as "System" "Updates" "Settings"
3. Follow the on-screen instructions after having selected update firmware (note this feature may try to query the manufacture's website for firmware updates as the first thing it does.)
4. Check for a "browse for firmware file." or "Browse"
5. Navigate to where you saved the firmware upgrade file and select it.
6. Choose a button for "update firmware now" or "apply this firmware" or something of that effect.
7. Let it run but DO NOT unplug the router or stop the update while it's processing it. This could render the router useless.

If your router isn't set up this way. Let me know.

I have a Netgear wgt624 for 2 years now then all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. I tried resetting and then reloading setup. The lights just flash on and off and will not connect to internet. Is there...

You can perform a firmware update on your router. Please go to netgear website http://netgear.com and make sure to select the exact model number and version of your product. Download the latest firmware for your product and proceed with the firmware update.

If you need assistance on doing this, you can call their support hotline at 1888netgear.

My pc will not download the firmware update. It

This is because you are telling the download window to open the file after downloading it. You aren't supposed to open this file under Windows, you're supposed to ship the file into the router. Windows has no idea how to open it, and that's what it's telling you. Instead, choose the option to just store the download in a file.

Keeps dropping connection every 3 or 4 minutes, 2 other computers work fine. all have windows xp installed. the one that drops the connection is the only one that uses wireless g.

Check to see if there is an updated firmware for the router via netgear's webpage. Follow their instructions for the firmware upgrade.

Should solve the problem. If not, let me know and we'll try something else.

Westell versalink 327w from bellsouth can't connect

Howdy,

I do not think this modem will work for you. Contact O.T.C. to be sure. For a few details...

I presume that you can access your Westell wireless modem/router 327w with the IP address of - 192.168.1.254. (Or you can simply type "launchmodem" in the address bar - (one word - no quotes)) This will definitely get you in. You will then see the setup menu. If you see the Bellsouth FastAccess Internet Service logo then you know you definitely have a Bellsouth modem.

Now, let's presume, you are using a Westell wireless modem/router 327w made for Bellsouth/ATT. If this is the case, as stated above, you will see the Bellsouth Logo on the setup page. Additionally, it is stated on the page below, that you cannot use a Bellsouth modem/router for any other ISP (Internet Service Provider) This is due to the Bellsouth/ATT firmware that Westell builds into this modem/router.

This is the page link:
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/bellsouth/3.141_Westell_327W__wireless__Info#13772

This is the relevant quote:
"The BellSouth supplied 327W (model C90-327W30-06) is made exclusively for BellSouth FastAccess. They are functionally different from retail Westells (or any model designed for use with other ISPs) and the firmware between them are not compatible and can not be interchanged."

That being said, you still might attempt to use this 327W with orlando telephone company but I do not know if it will work. (Doubtful...) I use the Bellsouth 327W and it is GREAT. (With Bsouth/ATT) Good luck.

P.S. - Please be advised that Westell does manufacture an identical 327W that does NOT have the Bellsouth/ATT firmware.installed. This is the "generic" version I suppose but I have no experience with this one. If you need more just ask. :)

Good luck,

J

Empty firmware interface

Firmware is on the device itself, resetting will only reset the settings on the device to factory defaults, which might be worth a try at this point.

If you didn't before, the proper firmware is located at http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D9230-4&aid=8593&scid=0

The -4 probably means your hardware version is 4000, use the easy install wizard located on the right side of the page.

DI-524 died during firmware update

Try resetting the unit again. Press and hold with a paper clip the reset button for ten seconds. You cannot use wireless when re-programming your router. When you try to get to your router's interface with your browser, if you can't, close your browser and try again. You should update firmware through wired also. Once in your router go to the firmware and check the version. If not the version you tried to update to, do it again. Don't be afraid to try again but make sure you use a wired connection. Let me know what happens and if you need more help just add a comment and I'll be happy to assist you further. Thanks.
