Protect comes up on my cd player

You may be able fix this problem by clearing the E2PROM. I have seen it a few times over the last few months.

press and hold the number 3 and the number 6 key at the same time and while you are holding those in, press the reset button.

The reset button is the tiny little depressed button on the display, you will need something like a toothpick or paperclip to push it in. You can also find it in your owners manual .

If this does not work you probably have an amp problem. That means you will most likely need to replace the amp IC.

I don't know why some of these Kenwoods do this, but I just started seeing at my shop about 6 months ago.

If this fixes your problem please feel free to rate me a "FixYa"
If you need further help feel free to ask.

Rejecting cd's

Press the Q/I/ATT and the "sel" button at the same time with the unit off for more than 2 seconds. This will reset the entire unit (you'll have to re-program the memory stations for FM & AM). The disc should eject automatically.

Hope that helps!

a friend of mine who is into bypassing stuff...found this method from sumwhere and it worked on my system...
u need to reset the system first by pressing the small button right next to <ATT> using a ball point pen or something pointed... once it reboots, keep the <SRC> button pressed till the display goes off, then while keeping the <SRC> button pressed, press the <ATT> button for 3 seconds, while keeping both of these pressed at the same time, press the small <RESET> button next to the <ATT> button using something sharp... this hard resets the system and it reboots to a blank screen, press the <SRC> button once and you have all the options working...
anything else, lemme know... varshik89@hotmail.com

I had the same problem on this stereo(disconnected the battery and then the cd wouldn't come out). Press and hold the "On/Att" power button and the "SEL" button at the same time for a few seconds. It will reset the unit and spit out the cd (but all your presets will be gone).

CD do not eject

I have the same prob with mine right now and thats why I came here was to find the manual. In the manual it states that that when something like this happens you need to hold two buttons for a few seconds and what it does is it resets the cpu in the deck. I had to do it before and yes I was kind of leary of the solution also but IT WORKED!! Now I'll have to dig before posting this otherwise I didnt just create a common solution I talked about it. Ok while holding power/ATT press eject for more than two seconds, and it says careful not to drop the cd~~~DAAA Or to reset the unit: While holding SEL (select) press power/ATT for more than two seconds and that will reset the unit to factory defaults. And this was actually from my owners manual of which I found...
