Black soot on bottoms of pans

GE Spectra XL44 We just reinstalled it. Works great. Can't find manual.

There is alot of excess black soot on the bottom of my pans and all around the burners everytime I cook. I remember something that I had to adjust but I can't remember. It has been 6 years since we purchased it and I can't find the manual now that I am able to use it again

Wellif you uninstalled and reinstalled the same appliance it should work the same.. thats weird that it changed. however the black soot is usually from flames that are to high. you could try tightening down the orifice where the gas comes out.

SOURCE: I have a GE Spectra

It sounds like your fuel, and air mixture adjustment has moved which wouldn't take much if the lock screw came loose. The adjustment barrel would be located on the tubing that feeds the fuel to the burner, and there should be a phillips head screw to lock it in place, the adjuster will spin in both directions but you may need to bump it lightly with a slotted screwdriver. I will say that you should have a perfectly blue flame on any gas range, since your getting a soot type residue on your pans that leads me to beleive that your not getting enough air mixed in with the fuel.

SOOT BIULD UP UNDER PANS? WITH MY GE PROFILE XL44 SPECTRA GAS RANGE

Air mix of burners is wrong. Need more air vs fuel.

Should probably get a pro to adjust under warranty.

The oven does not heat up on my GE Spectra XL44 but the broiler and stove work fine.

Might be the bottom element is bad. Not too hard to install a new one.
I am no electrician but if you unplug the stove, remove the bottom element and use an ohm meter attatched to each end, it should show if the element is broken through lack of continuity.
Just an idea from a landlord.

XL44 GE oven not working. Bottom burner not getting gas.

You probably have a bad ignitor. If the ignitor does not draw at least 3.5 amps the gas valve will not open. This is a safety feature.

Jammed storage drawer

svineyardWelcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

You said, Y inherited a GE Spectra XL44 in the home I recently bought so you don't know much about it. There is a pan stuck in the storage drawer and You can only open the drawer about an inch and a half before it jams.

You need two people.
One strong person to slide the range forward, so he can tilt the range far enough back, that you can access the drawer from the bottom and the pan will fall back inside the drawer as you pull the drawer forward and out enough for you to reach the pan and turn it around or what ever you need to do to get it out!
Bravo, I want to hear that you succeed!
Be careful not to hurt your self.
Bless You Huuum.
Please do not forget to leave a rating when you are done.!!!!!!!!

GE XL44 oven no gas to bottom half

Make sure the pin on the regulator is pulled to open which will allow gas flow to the oven.  Let me know what you find.
