Question about Whirlpool Dryers

Heat wont stay on

When you first turn it on it heats up. But when it tries to maintain the temp, the glow plug glows but the propane does not get released. also, how do you get to the burner?

Remove front to get to burner remove screws under lint screen on top press clips each corner of top remove tne screws each corner inside top front panel.if lint screen in door frame press clips each corner bottom panel ..replace the 2 black coils on burner

the glow plug circuit may be faulty, check glow relay and timer function, or connection to glow plugs, the glow plugs may also be faulty, if all is well with them, then you may want to check the fuel injection pump it may have a worn hydraulic head. To start you can try some quick start fluid but disconnect the glow plugs first,

the relay to the glowplugs is also turned off when ehgine temps are still above cut in temps..try changing the glowplug relay and temp sensor in the same system..

Glowplug light comes on and goes off quikly, engine hard to start. Changed all 4 glow plugs and coolant sensor. Light stays on for a good 10 seconds when water temp. sensor is unpluged.


The glow plugs work in direct relation to the engine block temp. The relay for the glow plugs is obviously reading the wrong temp, that's why they turn back off. It's most likely that the temp sensor is bad, but trace the wires back and make sure there are no breaks in the insulation and they are well connected at the plug-ins. I have seen a lot of wires at the connector look good but fall off as soon as you touch them.

If the temp sensor is the same on for your your dash, then borrow a heat sensing gun and double check it against the guage. I have seen them read wrong by as much as up to 20 degrees. If the sensor reads rught and feeds both the guage and the glow plugs, then the problem would be either the wire harness or the glow plug relay. Hope this helps.

Wont start battery low was changed


it sounds more like bad glow plugs. these heat the air in the cylinders to aide in cold starts and are controled by a temp sencing unit. with a volt meter or if your car is equiped with a gauge turn the ignition on. there should be a very noticable drop in your voltage. if not your glow plugs are probibly bad.

A glow plug is a small heating element in the cylinder. It heats the diesel so that starting can be made easy. Is your car standing in the open frozen parking If yes, then it would require a lot of battery power to first heat all the cylinders and then turn the engine to start. What we do in such conditions is to light up some fire under the car and heat the fuel system enough for the diesel to warm up a little and thus save the battery for glow plugs. Generally, all vehicles have an indicator light which comes on when the glow plugs are ready for starting. The diesel will ignite on compression, but it has to reach the cylinder and thus has to be flowing. In cold it freezes and hence the need for glow plugs and the heat. If it is parked in heated parking then the need for glow plugs decreases.

Glow plugs stay and wont shut off


Your problem sounds like the glow plug relay is faulty. It sees to be stuck in the closed position. It is mounted on the fuse board.
