I have a Sylvania NB501SL9 blu ray player with no remote. i have dish remote and programmed it for the blu ray , the play ,stop and ff/rew. works fine, but i can't get the arrows to work, therefore i cant change any options or browse the bluray special features at all, any ideas would be great!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but according to the manual in the link you posted, and from Google image searching to look closely at the remote, it doesn't appear to be a universal. The only way you can control your TV with it would be via the DVD player hooked into the TV, and then you will still only be able to control the standard functions of the DVD player (i.e. pause/play, stop, FF/Rew, menus, subtitles, etc.) but not the functions of the TV (i.e. volume, channel, power, etc.). Assuming you get yourself a new, actual universal remote to replace this with, I recommend this site in the future: http://www.remotecodelist.com/

l would have a look inside to see if when a tape is inserted it loads and will ff and rew, if the transport that moves the tape has failed it will account for what is happening.

Maybe this model does not support DVD+R, or the discs you have been using may not have been finalised in other equipment prior to playback in this unit.

Try using finalised DVD-R discs instead. They should work in this player, if not, then it probably does not support burned DVD media.

Nothing you can do, except purchase an el-cheapo DVD player (alongside this one) which can read DVD-R/DVD+R and other burned media.

threre are actually three lasers in a bluray drive. the bluray one has died. this also happens in ps3's. laser replacement for that model should do it

275 seems to work providing power on/off, play, stop, rew, fast forward but PAUSE doesn't work.

try 093. it worked on my samsung remote for my insignia blu ray player. Insignia instructs you to use sylvania codes and this code is listed under DVDplayers in my samsung guide. like i said...it worked for me!
