Question about Canon PowerShot SD300 / IXUS 40 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I want to take picture, but it goes into video mode

Often, when I try to take a picture (which is the right-most selection on the mode bar), it gets stuck in video mode, and won't enable me to take a picture. Often if I wait long enough, it settles down to picture mode, but its very inconvenient when I'm trying to take a quick snapshot

    Same thing!

I have the same problem, and it's really annoying.  I need to use my camera soon for an important event and would like to fix this problem (rather than purchase a new one).  Any advise ASAP would be appreciated!

I've got the same issue, it is often stuck in video mode when I am really trying to take a picture.

  • Anonymous Apr 18, 2008

I've had this camera for about 3 years now. This same stuck-in-video mode problem started creeping up a month ago. What I do is shift it back to view mode and back again until it goes to photo mode. It usually takes a couple of tries. Not exactly a fix but that's the only way I could get it out of video mode.

I have the same problem - my camera is almost always stuck in video mode. I toggle back and forth and sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn't!

  • treehause May 11, 2010

How do i get a full picture on my secnium hd tv?

Hello

To get the picture full screen come to screen aspect ratio settings.

The Screen Format feature allows you to change how the image of a 4:3 picture

is displayed on your 16:9 screen. The options are Normal, Zoom or Stretch. If

your TV receives an image with a 4:3 aspect ratio, the image can be displayed in

one of three ways:

Normal The image of a 4:3 video signal is centered with black bars on the
right and left sides of the screen

To get ito this setting mode
Enter the main menu and go to preferences select the screen format; option-2; and change the settings to get a full picture.
OK.

I have a 26inch Console Zenith Color TV, when I turn it on, I get a full pidture and sound but after 30 seconds, about 6-10 inches of the bottom screen goes black--but the rest is ok???

Hi,

Get the remote control and press the MENU key repeatedly until you see the Video menu at the bottom of the list of options you will see EZ Picture.
Use the up/down arrow keys to select EZ Picture and use the left/right arrow keys to select your preference. Set the preference to Preset not custom.
Press Enter, Quit or Menu to exit. See if resetting the TV's Picture settings resolves the problem.

If you have a bar at the top of the screen as well then it could be in letterbox viewing mode. Again just go into the Video menu and turn it off.

Please let me know how you get on.

Good luck.

HOW DO I PUT MOVIES AND PICTURES ON MY GPX

Plug in your MP3 Player. Open MY COMPUTER, your MP3 player will show up in the scroll on the left side of the screen. Go into your documents to select an image and simply drag and drop on top of the folder called ALBUMS under the GPX. This will put images into an album on the player.

To See the images once on your MP3 player,
1. Turn on the MP3
2. Hold MODE BUTTON
3. press up or down until you select PICTURE
Your images will appear as a list.

I find that .gif images and .jpg images work the best.

Video files must be .AMV formatted to work on this MP3 player. Below is a link to an amazing converter. It’s FREE and will convert your entire file.

Once you have the video files formatted to .AMV
  1. plug your MP3 player into the computer
  2. Go to MY COMPUTER, you should see a scroll bar on the left.
  3. Find your .AMV VIDEO
  4. Drag file to the Scroll Bar, hold the file over the GPX DEVICE
  5. Two folders will appear under it. Put file into ALBUMS

To then access videos put onto the device. Hold the MODE BUTTON on your MP3 player until you are returned to your menu screen. Scroll to MOVIES and your videos will be there. :D To return to listening to music or looking at Pictures, hold the MODE BUTTON and simply select your desired destination.

4.14.1 Understanding Viewing Features
Your LCD HDTV features four viewing modes and Picture-In-Picture (PIP)/Picture-by-Picture (POP) mode.
You can switch viewing modes using the remote control.
4.14.2 Viewing Modes
Normal Mode
The original 4:3 aspect ratio (1.33:1 source) is preserved, so black bars are
added to the left and right of the display image. Standard TV broadcasts are
displayed with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio. Movies in 4:3 Aspect Ratio may be referred
to as pan-and-scan or full frame. These movies were originally filmed in 16:9
(widescreen), and then modified to fit a traditional TV screen (4:3).
Wide Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full-frame movie in this mode,
the display image is stretched proportionately to fill the TV screen.
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1 source) program or movie, the
display image fills the TV screen. If you are watching a widescreen
(1.85:1 or 2.35:1 source) program or movie, there will still be black
bars at the top and bottom.
Zoom Mode
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1, 1.85:1, or 2.35:1 source)
program or movie, the display image is zoomed proportionally to fill the
width of the screen. The top and bottom are cut off to remove most of
the source material’s black bars. This mode is good for programs or
movies with sub-titles.
Panoramic Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full frame movie in this mode,
the 4:3 Aspect Ratio (1.33:1 source) display image is stretched
horizontally on the left and right sides to fill the TV screen. The center
of the image is not stretched.

Note: Viewing modes are saved based on input. For example, you lasted watched a DVD in widescreen
mode and then watched TV in standard mode. When you switch back to DVD input, the viewing mode
will return to widescreen.
