Question about Dell E172FP 17" LCD Flat Panel Monitor
Upon starting the dell logo and windows xp logo are horozontial a couple of seconds later the desktop comes on all everything is now vertical. Tried fixing, to no avail . I've rebooted, disconnected and re connected theelectric and peripheral wires. I nhave thwe monitor standi9ng sidewaqys to see. Afraid it will fall to the floor.Help
The problem is most likely not with the monitor it is the computer. Some graphics cards have shortcuts to turn the display. Most likely you accidentally hit this shortcut. Most are done with Cntrl/ALT/Delete. Regardless lets get it back to normal. If you right click on the desktop somewhere and select Properties from the box pops up you should get to the display properties. From here select the Advanced button from the settings tab. You should get the Plug and Play display box. Selet the Display adapter tab. Mine happens to be Intel it is usually the tab on the top and takes up the whole length of the box. From this box there should be button for display properties ot something similar. If you check the different tabs in display props there should be a setting for rotation. Set it back to zero. I would deselect the Enable rotation so it does not happen again by accident. I hope this helps. You may find things a different on your PC but this should get you to the right place to fix it. I see this happen a lot. I always disable this on people PC's that I repair for them to avoid calls like this. It is easy to mess up.

What type of video card is installed in your computer?
Go to Start, Control Panel, and look for a 'video' Control Panel icon. My particular one is "nVidia Control Panel". Double click the icon. Take a look at the settings and look for one for the display. Look in this section and see if there are settings that will let you rotate the display.
