Re: Technics SA-DX940

Overload, usually means that is overloaded. i've had the receiver for about 4 or 5 years now and never had problems with it. It was sitting ontop on my tv for those 4 or 5 years, and i haver noticed it untill just recently, (when i bought a new tv and i had to get a stand for it, and i had to stick the receiver in it)that is runs very hot, very quickly; Maybe that is the problem you are having now, that the thins is older and maight be able to handle it as it id b4. Maybe you made some changes to your set up: new speakers, etc.

I used the manual downloaded from

Try using the final stereo output of the mixer as the input to the CD or Tape or VCR inputs.and use the switches on the fromt of the DX940 as necessary.
The specificatios state input sensitivity is 27 mY so your mixer needs a low output..
No reason it shouldn't work.

I moved and cannot find manuel for sa-dx940 need instruction on how to reconnet wire to t.v. and speaker

The Technics SA-DX940 is made by Panasonic. The manua as a PDF is available here: . The directions for connecting the speakers start on page 14. The connection to the TV is on page 10. To use the SA-DX940 as just external speakers for your TV, connect either the digital audio out from the TV (if it has one) or the RCA audio out from the TV to the matching TV audio in on the SA-DX940.

I hope this helps.

When I turn on unit, a message "overload" appears.

Check the speakers and the power supply for any signs of shorting.
This is due to the fact that the safety circuit works to switch off the set preventing a high damage.
So check the output for short or the presection .

Technics 940dx "overload"

Disconnect all speaker wires from the back of the receiver and turn it back on. If overload does not turn on, post a comment and I can walk you thru troubleshooting. If it does, your receiver needs to be serviced. Hope this helps

Technics SA-DX940

Ratnesh, I have this same receiver and the fan only comes on at certain volume levels. Unfortunately I now live in an apartment and can very rarely listen to it that loud. I had the same problem for a little while until I thought about moving the receiver to the lowest shelf with nothing on top of it. This seems to have worked so far although it does still get quite warm. Good luck!
