Linux will run on almost any hardware that is reasonably recent, as long as there is enough RAM and enough disc space. Which Linux distribution is right for you will depend on what you want to do with it but a good place to start would be Ubuntu. It installs easily on most systems and can happily cp-exist with Windows.

I have a Asus A8n-e mainboard with a Ati Radeon x1650 pro graphics card, what is the best upgrade for this card

Plenty of options. If you want to stay on ATI model then you can try any Radeon HD, from 30000 to 60000 series. Getting the highest possible of the series would be good but the performance would also depend on the speed of your processor and ram.

hope it helps.

You need the latest display driver for your graphics card.

Click here to download the drivers off the Nvidia website.

Enter the information in the fields as shown below;

Product Type: Geforce
Product Series: Geforce 8 Series
Product: 8400GS
Operating System: Select the operating system you are using. XP or 7 whichever it is.
Language: Choose your Language, English

Then click search and download and install the driver.

This should solve your problem!

Do do recommend sticking with XP as your current computer system will find it difficult to run Windows 7.

All the Best!

Is the ASUS A8N-VM PCI Express 2.0 compliant?

not that I know. It may support newer pci-express graphic cards, but surely they won't run at full-power with pci express 1.0 lower specs. if you're not satisfied with your motherboard, you should buying a new one that supports pci-express 2.0

ATI Radeon HD 4800 is compatible with your motherboard but there could be problem with power supply because those graphic cards are requesting stronger PSU.

Here in this link you can read PSU requirements for HD 4800 series of Graphic cards:

Hi shuter. Your Asus P5RD1-VM has an integrated video adapter ATI® Radeon 9600 GPU. You need to enter your bios & change the video start up order. Pg.2-22 in your manual.
Configuration options: [IGD] [PEG/IGD] [PCI/IGD]
Boot Graphics Adapter Priority [PEG/IGD]
Save & exit. Check system at boot up for correct memory count.

Thanks for using FixYa & if you need more help just re-post here. Have a good one!

Installing NVidia 8500GT XFX 256MB graphics to A8N-VM Motherboard

The chances are that you have an old motherboard which is not compatable with the new graphic card. Or you may be running windows 98 and are downloading the driver for xp or visa versa. The probable solution, will be to sell the new card on ebay and buy the best old card you can off ebay. Or just make do with the card you already had in your computer. If you are determined to have a better graphics card. A motherboard upgrade with better graphic card may be the best answer or buy a better spec pc second hand if you don't have much money. You'll probably waiste a lot of time trying to get the new card to work and it probably never will.
